Title: Unusual hazards to flight
Post by: Mike Scholtes on December 25, 2006, 07:11:06 PM
Our field in Alameda CA is adjacent to a several-acre wildfowl pond where migrating waterfowl rest and feed. The geese tend to swarm into flight in large groups, then fly right through the circle close to the ground. If I had my Remington 1187 in the flight box I could CLUB them out of the sky. We have had several goose-model collisions that hurt the model more than the goose. Luckily they honk like crazy and annouce their presence in time for us to practice our level flight at 2' until they are gone.

When geese fly in a "V" formation, one side of the "V" is always longer than the other side.  Anyone know the reason for this? (Answer below)

More geese on that side. . .
