I’ve been out at a (at that time) unused part of a large sports park here. Had orange cones set up all around my circle, one every 6 paces, and still had several people walk right though. All the room in the world around me.

I'm documenting every disc golfer and off leash dog walker on video that comes on to our MAAC sanctioned field. When the time comes to ask the city for more signage, and to remove or modify the Disc golf course, I feel the videos will go a long way to validate my concerns.

Signs are a joke . Chain link fence minimum  . Contests in Centennial Park in Toronto always scare me. Despite fences , signs and caution tape  totally obvious idiots bumble through the circles. F2D combat is already exciting enough .

Brad,
Gee, I thought it was just a local thing to expect that you have the right to be where ever you want (regardless of whose rights you may be crushing) and not responsible for being there.  Not sure if I am glad to hear that it could be a universal thing......  For what it is worth, I have seen the exact same thing in South Korea but always chalked it up to extreme focus on getting from point A to point B as opposed to a rights issue.

We have the same problem in Huntsville Alabama.  Ty seem to be the prime target.  Once a lady drove up to him to ask directions as he managed to fly over her car.   It's the sign of the times.  Folks have no clue how a control-line airplane works!  R%%%%

Reminds me of the spoof on the line in the movie "The Sixth Sense".  I see dumb people. They don't know their dumb...

Hard to be tolerant when the airplane is at risk not to mention the safety of person who does not seem to understand danger when it is nearby....

Once in 1989 I was flying combat model powered with diesel КМД-2.5  Flying was peaceful on the soccer field , separated by the wire fence from the collective farm cow pasture. For some reason all cows galloped to the fence , and started Moo- moo there. When engine quit running, everything went back to normal. Only shepherds try to kill me very hard.
 I have a witness.

I'm trying to remember where it was, but ...
Might have been here in Sierra Vista many years ago...

City police officer, in his patrol car stopped next to me to ask what I was doing. Explained well enough that he was satisfied, and he did leave the circle in plenty of time for me to land.  (The circle was in an area the City allowed us to fly in, mostly RC guys used it, but I could set up and fly most mornings before any showed up.)

Try conversing with a "cop car" while turning with the model and reaching over the rooftop light bar.... Worked well, anyway.

Its kind of hard to focus on learning the pattern if i have to be aware of whose walking across the field. Then there's the off leash dogs that like to trample on your lines just as much as the owner. But our field is looking great now that we painted the circles. Most will walk around, the rest become You Tube stars.

Brad

Were you at T&D  the year a lady wearing high heals tried to walk to the paved part of the circle to get to a party on the other side? It was crazy, a women comes to a party in a park wearing a dress and high heels, try's to walk in the grass with predictable results, see's the paved part of the circle and heads for it, luckily no one was flying, we yelled at her and someone finally got her to walk around but jeeze...lol
