Title: Unknown Profile
Post by: Elwyn Aud on October 28, 2017, 01:45:08 PM
I'm trying to identify this plane. I believe it's from a Topeka contest around 2008.

Elwynn
That looks like the old Gage Park circle.
I can check the old newsletters and see if I can answer your question.  Or, maybe someone else has the answer.
Thanks
Jim

Perhaps a Forerunner with an altered vertical fin?

For some reason I thought it might have been a design  from Heartbeat Models. Don't know why.

Basic design looks like a Forerunner.

I agree...It's a Forerunner.  I've built two of them in the past.  Pretty good flier!

Elwyn I'm pretty sure I had to be at that contest but I don't remember the airplane.  It wasn't one of mine but I had to take a close look at the wing and the stab/elevator, looks the same as my Sukhoi....sort of thought it might be a kit bash......most likely the other guys are correct but I don't think I've ever seen a Forerunner up close.  The Sukhoi has fuse mounted gear though.  Was trying to remember if it was something Kevin had but we were never fond of the LA's so I don't think so.

Modified Banshee with wing gear and modified fin. Just my 2 cents.

My first thought was a kit-bashed Forerunner too, but I don't think that's it. The airfoil says it's not a Twister wing either. I think it's just an original "one off" build, likely based on an existing wing from a "who-knows-what".

Finally relocated the flash drive with the Topeka photos on it. Didn't find a static shot but I got a pic of the pilot and AMA number.

That for sureis not a "Candy".  I built and flew one for several years.  It was all Pink Monokote.  I don't recognize the pilot either.   Could be one of the guys from Stillwell OK.

Yep, I remember that one.

Mystery solved!!!   That's Kevin (Prier) and some Sukhoi bash he did that my aging mind forgot about.  That's his AMA number and him under the hat.

To tell how bad that is,  I was over in Kevin's basement a couple months ago.  I was admiring a really nice Jr. Nobler hanging on the wall.  I inquired as to where he got that.  He looked at me strangely and informed me I built it for my grandson a few years ago.  (As yet unflown).

Thanks for the picture of the old DOC flying the Candy.  Much better plane than the pilot.
