I was wondering if anyone has built the United designed by Bob Lampione. I have been eye balling this kit on the Brodak site and getting close to needing a new project. If you have built one how well does it fly and are there any tips to pass along when in the construction phase?

I believe that "Champione" built the prototype....you might I/M him .....
I have seen the original fly....and it was impressive.....

The United is one of the best-engineered of the Brodak kits. Excellent fits, nice wood, good hardware. This is a fairly large stunter, so think .46-.51 engine for best performance, in my humble opinion. Nice design, very good in the pattern. Should make you fly just like the "Champione"! No "secrets"; build straight, light, go easy on the finish.

Note that the Lampione F-86D is the same basic airplane, but with a trike gear and a bit different look applied. A .46LA would be a good "cheap" powerplant, with an Aero Tiger .36 or PA .40UL being a good "expensive" option. Mr. Lampione seems very approachable, so I'd suggest axing him his opinion. Somebody was building a F-86D from the United kit, but I can't recall who it was right now. Maybe after a decent night's sleep...<sigh>. Z@@ZZZ Steve

It's even better when you sneak up behind him and spin the propellor on his beanie.

See Mr. Lampione to get one of his cool color schemes.

A United almost won the VSC a year or two ago.
Great plane, and I love the lines of the design.
