It's been over forty years since I built my first model airplane kit, a Comet Struct-O-Speed Globe Swift. I have no clue how many I've built since, but it must be hundreds, FF, RC & CL. Some (most) have been terrible, ill fitting, die crunched Sterling, Guillow's and the like. Some of the RC kits of Airtronics or Northeast Aerodynamics in the early 80's were superb in terms of wood quality, machined parts and parts fit.

But the Umland Original Magician I'm building right now is without doubt the best kit I've ever built. I think it would frame up and fly without glue. It almost seems like cheating.

Yes, I hear they are thinking of disqualifying Umland kits from being BOM eligible.  Umland kits are terrific and do almost build themselves.  I am currently building his Colssus kit.  Make sure you put yourself on the list for his up and coming kits!!

I am still in finishing stage with the Umland P-39.  His kits will spoil you as far as cutting parts.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Darn it! I knew I shoulda kept that one. Oh well, after I finish my Umland Chipmunk, I have an Umland P-39 and an Umland Old Fokker and anything else he decides to kit.
As far as no glue thing, please read Larry Renger's post about used models.

Oh, and I'll expect to see the Magician next time we fly.

Ironically, the quality of this kit might slow me down, at least in the finishing stage. I usually slam-dunk a sport profile in about two weeks. It'd be a shame to settle for "just good enough" on this one. Without getting carried away, I think a decent finish is warranted here.
