Ukranianian Modelers

Modelers,
I would like to start a positive thread where we respect our fellow modelers from Ukraine (and Russia). It deeply disturbs me that we are forgetting the individuals, their models, and their collective achievements. It would be wonderful if we could post non-political pictures and stories of their contributions. Be it motors, models, pre-fab kits, propellers, lines, or other, certainly they have greatly contributed to our collective hobby.

It pains me to think of what they and their families are experiencing this month.

Please, let the positive memories begin.

A couple of years ago my Stalker 76:s crankshaft broke in to two pieces. I sent the complete motor to Oleg Korotchaev. I got it back with a new house and new crank, No charge. I have met  many of the Ukrainian control liners in competitions in Europe, good people!. My hart is with the whole Ukrainian nation.

I heard from Andrey Yatsenko today.  He got his family out of Kiev and is safe for now.

a few years ago my F2C pilot  Jason Allen and i were invited by the Zalp engine co ,to fly in the Ukrainian world cup in kiev as their guest. it was one of the greatest weekends of racing ever .
 they met us at the airport ,set us up at our accommodations, then to the field to practice ,they supplied fuel for 3 days,.they made sure we knew when our practices and races were  and even called our races in English. we spent 3 hrs with the Zalp guys as they went over my motors  they spoke no English and us no Ukrainian but we made do with pictures and what u could call pigian English ,it was great
  they made us feel like long lost sons, on the last day they gave us a 3 hr tour of Kiev and ended the day with a Ukrainian BBQ that lasted well into the night.The next morning 3 cars escorted us to the airport . a weekend i will never forget. I like to think in a small way we erased some of the Ugly American stigma

THE POINT BEING . . .
you could hold off the military , In Red Square . Untill youd run out of eggs .

And they'd  end up with egg on their faces , literally & figuratively .

If the kids in Ukraine start egging the Russian troops , They could hardly start shooting them for ' resistance ' like the nazis did throughout France ( & the rest of Europe ) without looking like sh*ts .

Seems ' the Military ' think they can blow anything on the planet up . With Impunity . If they got the BILL for the DAMADGE , they might think twice .

Theyve wrecked half the architecture on the planet . Look what the Spanish did to the Inca's . Youd think it was time everyone on the Planet GREW UP & stopped their wheedling & scheeming .
of course , the armaments manufacturers & merchants would be at a loss . A good target for kids with eggs to . Or would the ' Authorities ' consider the action unlawfull . ?

Seems like ' they 'd rather let our renowned leaders spend millions wrecking the place , than let a few hooligans stop the destruction , with a rubber band & thumb tack . Figuratively .

Being brought up in NZ through the 50s and 60s we were tied with apron strings to the UK and traded butter, cheese, milk, wool and meat to such an extent we were 2nd or 3rd in world living standards. This wealth sparked our national health, education and pension schemes to achieve international recognition on top of our No8 wire mentality leading to splitting of the atom,( earlier)  first to top Mt Everest, the Hamilton Jet boat. the bungi jump and some evidence to suggest R Pearce preceded the Wright Brothers- to name a few. Add first in the world to allow voting for women, Since then , Lord of the rings. a local orbital rocket industry ( Rocket Lab) and numerous agricultural innovations. and a leading educational system ( till it recently became Woke - Broke- Croak!)
 
Moral- success CAN bring self entitlement and decline.

Our hearts were British -  the "Mother Land." was our parent and 'Rock,'
But our eyes were always on you - THE USA!

It now kills us and chills us to see what is happening to the world and the USA.
We too could have done more earlier to support the US to support itself and others.
Alas, but.......
be assured there are many folks down here in NZ and Aus who still believe in the US and are your mates in supporting you and the Ukraine.

A few years back , I was keen to keep Stunthangar politics free, but this stuff now going down - is way beyond the pail!

Enough is enough.

I see the Ukraine as a beacon. It is a flickering hope in the desolation.
May it turn into one of those decisive points in history, one which our children will point to and,
fall to their knees in gratitude.

May we all pray for democracy and peace.
