Lots of CL action today - Magnum flight videos
« on: September 06, 2015, 07:04:50 PM »
The Fort Jackson Control Line Gang is growing. Our newest member, Richard Malik(standing) is a transplant from Michigan and lives about 100 miles from the field. I live 3 or 4 from it. He met up with Wayne and me today for an early start, about 9:30. Bob Zambelli rolled in soon after with his huge eclectic fleet.

I took the Magnum and the Nobler. I've got some video cooking and here is the first one, of Wayne flying the old Mike Garmon Magnum.

More to come tomorrow. I am beat tonight.
Later,
Rusty

Yes we are lucky to have it. It's always "too windy" for the RC flyers, so we usually have the main runway for ourselves, our growing little group. Though the wind is always strong, it's only bad air from one direction, through the pine trees in the parking area. Most days it's a nice steady blow if you just keep aware for short lived thermals. Even when the foam flyers come out, we take turns and have a good relationship. They're usually fascinated with our sport. We do have a CL circle, but it's kind of sloped, so not so great for PA type flying. The concrete pads make great pit areas.
Our two newest members, Bob and Rich bring a huge amount of knowledge and experience. They just met today and it turns out they share a lot of the same acquaintances too.

It's a magnificent graceful thing to see. Wayne flies it very well, in fact that's one of the best patterns I've watched him fly. It takes me for a walk on windy days, I need to get myself some lead underwear, Haha!

Okay, Chris I will. He's coming off a two year hiatus and just getting his flying legs back. He knows a lot of good control line stuff, we're glad to have him. Introducing him to Bob Z was a highlight in itself... two yankees bonding Lol. You can hear them chattering over the engine noise in some of our videos.
