Frank Carlisle - A man on a mission
« on: September 02, 2007, 07:29:09 PM »
Frank Carlisle attended the contest put on by the TreeTown Modelers in Aurora, Illinois today. I didn't realize what an effort Frank had made to attend with his large twin-engined LAHEAT until I saw how he had transported his plane. As many of you following Frank's posts here know he doesn't have a vehicle large enough to hold the plane. Pictures are attached that show Frank's creative thinking. Now that's what I call a "git-r-done" attitude.

It takes two rolls of duct tape and 3 sheets of styrofoam and four bungie cords to haul that thing 669 miles round trip. Hey--I got there and back without busting it.

Dennis as usual I had a great time with you guys.

Thanks Paul.

Frank said that he's only flown the pattern 4 times before with the twin. Given that, he flew a pretty good pattern. The plane looked stable in level flight and had an excellent corner. Line tension didn't appear to be a problem. In fact, when Frank was doing the overhead 8's I could've sworn that I saw daylight between his feet and the ground.    AP^

I am sure that flying that model is an awesome feeling!  I am glad that all the months of building and the little bumps in the road have finally paid off. y1

I hope the plane gives Frank many, many beautiful flights! ;D
