Nats Predictions
« on: July 06, 2010, 04:48:01 PM »
Well the Nats is a week away, and was wondering what sort of predictions were out there for top "Dawg" in stunt this year since the Worlds will be going on as well.

One prediction is Buddy Weider will get rookie of the year in open.
Windy will make the top 5 this year is my other prediction
If Mike Palko shows up, he will make the top 5 as well (my other prediction)

I don't even know who is attending or isn't because of the Worlds, so the results this year will probably be interesting.

What predictions do you people have out there (remember all in good fun  H^^ )

I predict that Banjock will fly many many goofy machines "after hours" at the Nats, like the MiG, or one of his free flight jobs.

A NATS without Banjock is not even worth going to.  His after hours antics make the trip worth the effort!!!!

Fellow North Carolina flyer Adrain Dominguez top in  Advanced . He really looked good at Brodak's this year.

Steve Fitton  was very impressive at KOI this year has been working hard to prep for the Nats ...Kent Tysor has his Strega ready  and has been flying alot  since Brodak's  ...  District  4 will be well reepresentated this year

I think that Steve Fitton, Eric Viglione, and Adrian Dominguez will be fighting for some of the top spots in Advanced. It would be a lie if I said that Steve was not my favorite for the win though.

As far as Open, it is very hard to say.

Werwage
Hunt
Moon
Newman
Stevens
Palko
Windy
Rush

All of these guys could be in the top five and possibly win it all. You never know what could happen!

My guess is the top five on my list will be the top Five......in no specific order.

H Larry,

Rumor (unsubstantiated) has it that Mr. William Werwage might be there.

I don't know for sure, but if he is, and given that there will be so many missing, I have to go with Billy if he IS there.

Like Derek, I hope Steve Fitton has a good NATS, and Adrian, too!

Thanks, Paul!  I wa talking with Bobby Hunt a few minutes ago, and he was sorry he had to miss due to teaching the classes.  Bob is sure fired up again!  And I think that is a good thing. ;D

Before long we'll have the *old Crowd* (figuratively and literally! LL~ LL~ LL~ ) competing again, it appears! LOL!!  You, Bob, Ted, Billy, Brett, David, etc., etc., and that will be good to watch.  Gonna be tough to keep Orestes, Derek and some other young whipper snappers off y'alls tails, though. ;D

Good Luck with your duties next week!

Not knowing who's going to be there, the phases of the moon , Jupiter aligning with Mars, sunspots, if the judges get too hot, inadequate availability of out houses, fictitious global warming, etc., makes *predictions* impossible! LL~ LL~ LL~

Like many others who have responded to this, I do not know for sure who will compete this year.  However, given the information about people who will not be there, my predictions for the top five will be:

Howard Rush
Kenny Stevens
Frank McMillan
Matt Neumann
Doug Moon

Also in contention will be Randy Smith, Windy Urtnowski and Bob McDonald.

If Bill Werwage shows up, he will be in the top 10 and would always be in contention for the top five.

Other top 10 contenders, if they are there would be Gordan Delaney, Bruce Perry, and Kent Tysor.

I am leaving the names of the U.S. Team off of the list as I understand that none will be at the Nats.  Also not on the list as not being there are Brett Buck (who could win it all again against this field) and Dan Banjock.

Not much room for "sleepers" at the top even with this group.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your concern.  Things are MUCH improved.  I am a leisure flyer this year.  Lots of physical therapy and just giving things a chance to mend.

Hope to be back to full competition mode by summer end.  You will be happy to know I am constantly chipping away at my first full competition electric stunt ship and should have it ready by the end of August.  Looking forward to doing battle with all the NATS and World Champions who hang out at the Golden State Stunt Championships here in October.  It’s a shame you have to miss the NATS again.  Maybe you can make it out to Cali for a weekend in October for that epic battle.  No need to pack up any gear, I have lots of good planes you could fly!  Even a new electric!  That’s a serious offer too!

You can't fly in Advanced and Open in the same NATs, so he has until next year to get it done.

My recommendation to anyone who is on the edge of Adv/Open at the NATs just go for Open.

Dave and I are going to have to get on the stick - show up at the field and we got two of the six 20-pointers and a Concours winner (and maybe two by the end of the week). Dave and I just limp along with our 17-pointers like second-class citizens.
