Title: u-key 35

just starting to build a ukey 35 Mounting a LA 25 , the issue is hardly any material where the bolt holes go thru the front, very close to the edge. Do I need to put mounts in also ? if the drill the 1/8 '' holes we may have a 1/16 to the edge. Any help would be appreciated.
   This is the first attempt in over 40 years, so I don't want to screw up.

On mine, I epoxyed 1/32 plywood on the insides of both mounts.  That centered the engine in the mounts and prevented the bolt hole from breaking through.  I also used 1/16 aluminum pads glued to the mounts under the engine.  It all worked fine even after I passed the airplane on to a beginner in our club.  He finally demolished the airplane, but the mounts were still good.

Inside edge, outside edge or the front? If inside you can add a couple strips of hardwood inside the mounts.

Similar to Larry above, I was unable to get a Ukey, or a reply, from the "current" manufacturer.

Thanks for your inquiry regarding the Ukey aircraft.  I am finally getting back to the business.  Sorry for the late response to your call.  I do appreciate your getting in touch. 

The price for the Ukey 35 is $60 and the price for the Ukey 40 is $70.  Shipping for each currently is $10.  The Ukey 35 has a wing area of approximately 400 square inches and will fly with a .35 engine or a good .25.  The Ukey 40 has a wing area of approximately 500 square inches and is designed for a .40 size engine.  Wing spans for the Ukey 35 and the Ukey 40 are approximately 48".  The Ukey 40 has a wing that is wider than the Ukey 35.

The aircraft are "ARF" and have a solid wood profile fuselage and foam wings.  The kits are complete except for engine, tank, prop, and fuel line.  The wings come pre-covered and are ready to epoxy to the finished fuselage.  They are good trainer aircraft and have been used by many for this purpose.  However, they can also fly the AMA stunt pattern.
