Glad to see you've toned down. yea, right! Very slick, Phil, very slick. As usual, you take colors that if I used would look like crap and turned them into a beautiful work of art. Man, when I grow up, i want to be just like Phil!

Mikey, good to hear from you!  Hope all is well.

Matt, your questions will be answered in detail as I am documenting everything.

This one reminds me of the words in an old blues song "Don't know why I love you like I do, after all that you put me thru!"

This is my first adventure into the mysterious world of machine cut paint masks.

Photo 1:  This is how my paint masking world looked.
Photo 2:  This was the typical result.
Photo 3:  This is how my paint masking world looks now.

Not sure what the new plane will look like finished because I keep coming up with new tricks on this blamed vinyl cutter!  Stay tuned!

Phil,  You and Randy P. just keep blowing the old DOC away with your simple paint schemes.  Here I am just trying to get to the point of priming my planes.  By the way did I say that is outstanding as usual.  DOC Holliday

Geez, we can post bigger pictures here, I will make some 200K versions... Also can level out that inflight picture.

    Brett

p.s. note the 3rd picture closely - there IS an airplane in there somewhere, but it's not that easy to see!  This is one reason it always seems relatively easy to fly at Muncie, because this background is evil (that's why the bottom is at about 15 feet...). I tried to darken it to it looks like it really seems, but I would need to get the sun in the FOV as well. This is almost completely backlit in the morning (sun rises almost exactly on the line from Paul to the airplane in this picture. Coming out of the Sun, and into this inky black background, is no small challenge (and good practice for Golden State, which if anything is even worse) - bb

1080X 640 is not big enough? Crop and compress to any size you wish.

Brett, where is mystery picture #3 taken? Looks like the parking lot of a condo project. Must be a "quiet pipe" on Paul's plane.

Us FF guys have a different problem, looking straight up into the sun to follow the tiny receding dot that is your precious model. Thank goodness for tracking radios.

Mike it's Mission college Santa Clara Ca.

Yes, it is. We contract with the college to use the parking lot 12 times a year. Sunday was our first this year. If anyone wants to come by and fly with us, the Northern California CLPA Association, please get in touch with me offline, and even better, if you want to participate - financially - get in touch with me offline RIGHT AWAY. It's a very exclusive club, to get in you have to have money. We have no meetings, no newsletter, no elections since I have proclaimed myself El Presidente for Life, and we got a combat guy for a safety officer.

We are AMA sanctioned so we can get site insurance for both Mission and the public site at Napa.

El Presidente for Life:

And as James Bond said menacingly to the crazed dictator in Live and Let Die, "Remember, you're only president for LIFE."

I have a hunch there may be a few locals on the fringes of knowing what they are doing who would like to sign up with this gang of ne'r-do-wells. I will send you a private message to find out just how loaded one needs to be.

Along these lines ONE of us should investigate flying at the NAS Alameda site. There are endless smooth paved areas, mostly fenced but open to access, at which insured, AMA chartered flyers may have a chance with tethered aircraft. Someone who lives in Alameda, maybe.

Not that loaded, and the more that sign up, the less loaded you need to be. And the picture below indicates your qualification for this elite group.
