two stunt hangar t-shirts seen at r/c club today.
« on: June 03, 2006, 06:43:44 PM »
we had our 2nd annual stunt contest today at the radio control club of detroit and me and leroy from kalamazoo both wore  stunthangar t-shirts. i got a picture of leroy's shirt but you need to take my word for it that i had mine on too.
we flew ots, classic and pampa stunt.
16 pilots and a whole bunch of planes.
i have a zillion photoes of the planes and as i process them i'll post them here.
skip got pictures of the award ceremony on his camera and in a day or two i'll have those to post.
john paris will probably be able to give you a run down on who won what.
for now here is a picture of leroys back and the flag raising.

Hey john,
Thanks for posting those results. i stayed a couple hours hours after the contest and visited with folks. it rained off and on and got pretty chilly so we made a good call.

we need to start having judging clinics. seems if we had more qualified judges a few of us wouldn't have to work so hard.

i'm processing the pictures a couple at a time to post here. if you read the caption under the pix it will tell you what the picture is.

you did a nice song and dance for that vector.

i had an ARF Vector 40 that john brodak sent me for a prize for the contest. During the awards ceremony I offered it to anyone that would come up and do a song and a dance for it. Well...............john paris rushed right up in front of the crowd. he looked a little embarassed at first so i shook the vector box in front of him. He immediately started to do an irish jig and belted out a pretty good rendition of "you light up my life".
i wish you guys could have been there to see it.

it's hard to get a new conest going. last year we had 12 contestants. this year we had 16.
it grows a little at a time.
did you know that people who are not stunt flyers can't even recognize the maneuvers in the pattern? one thing they recognize though is that our planes are superior to what they usually see. the craftsmanship and finish sets them apart.

we have a 9 acre field at RCCD. we marked out 4 circles and had room for more.
there is plenty of room for growth .

I wound up judging. seems that happens more often than not. i'd like to see more guys learning how to do that. seems there is a shortage of guys willing to do that job.

I will verify Frank had his Stunthanger.com T-Shirt on. It got a good washing while he was out judging in the rain. Thanks for judging Frank!

I love judging Leroy. I thank you for attending the contest. I have a bunch of pictures of the awards presentation. I'm going to have to process them and post.
