I have two planes near done, my s1a ringmaster, and my magician. My engine choices are, fox.29, two fox.35's, mccoy.35 redhead, k&b.40, fox.40. What would you put on which plane?

Fox .29 on the S1. McCoy 35 red head on the Magician. Of course, it all depends on how heavy you build these.. you may need more power if they are porkers!

I agree with Richard. Good choices for the two airplanes as long as the engines are fit and the models are not grossly overweight.

i would put a couple of them on ebay and save some problems of a fox burp when on a profile. use the money to buy a os la 25 for the ringmaster. the mccoy will do the job on the Magician if it has life left in it.

Actually, the Fox burp can usually be fixed by partially blocking the bypass with a stick, and if the McCoy is over the hill some compression may be regained by using 25%-29% all-castor fuel. Think positive...

I guess being hard of hearing I never noticed the Fox burp on profiles.

The tree fox engines were bought used by some of the older boys that flew control line when i was a kid. They didnt fly much and quit. I got them from there cousins many years later. It must have been in the late 60's when they had them. It must have been the early 90's when i got them. They were missing the NVA's but otherwise in great shape. I replaced the NVA's and they seem to run great on the test stand, but i have never had them in the air.
The McCoy i bought used on ebay. I was missing the drive washer. I got a drive washer out of a hobby shop junk drawer and bored it to fit, i dont know what it came from. When i got the engine it had a old two piece glow plug in it. The compression is outstanding and also seems to run and start great on the test stand. I do wish i had the correct drive washer though.

Contact Jim Lee at Lee's Machine Shop. He might be able to make you one. He made one for my old Green Head K&B Torpedo .35.

The .35's should do fine, thinking about my Magician, it does very well with a .32, I believe a .40 would be a bit of ovekill for either plane. The Magician can be a nice flying plane !! Best of luck with them.
