The new plane
« on: September 30, 2020, 05:31:36 PM »
This is the new thing. A profile Vector 40 from a Dixon kit.
It takes me a long time to get something built but I should be able to fly this weekend.
It's a LA46 that Mark Troutman was kind enough to break in for me.
The paint is DupliColor rattle can with KlassKote clear for fuel proofing. I won't use the DupliColor again simply because of the expense.
Controls from OkieAir. Hinges are Ceconite from Joe Bowman.
Wheels are from the purple Ve3ctor that I destroyed this Spring.
Not visible in the picture are the turbulators ( I have a Free Flight background ) that are cleverly disguised as un-filled wood grain.
I have considered flying it without a fuel tank -as shown in the picture - as a weight saving measure but I'm gonna seek out a couple of amateur opinions as to whether it is worth the extra hassle to simply save a bit of weight.
I almost made the leadout terminations too short. By about half an inch.  Another lesson learned.
Free Flight is a lot easier.

If your not using a propellor , theres not much point in using a fuel tank . Without that you wont need a muffler , so yooull save lots of weight ! .  :##
