Brookstone
« on: August 05, 2018, 07:00:25 AM »
I saw that Brookstone was closing retail stores and keeping airport and on line operations.

Years ago they were the home to "hard to find tools", not cheesy kitsch and electronics that barely make it out of the mall.

They had stuff like dead blow hammers long before Strap-On. Their catalog was full of stuff that made an aspiring mechanic drool.

I bring this up after reading Fred's thread. Brookstone had left hand drills! Ideal for drilling before using an "easy out".

Early Japanese motorbikes had a peculior steel that almost immediately caused them to almost weld themselves into aluminum cases. Frequently a left hand drill would gain purchase and back the culprit out, as if by magic!

The catalog was also a source for those wierd British Standard wrenches and sockets.

I know the Internet makes obtaining this kind of stuff a breeze today, but years ago, Brookstone ruled!
