Title: Two Engines to Identify
Post by: Robert Zambelli on August 02, 2018, 03:37:43 PM
I came across these in a big box of new-in-box engines that probably hasn't been opened in 20/25 years.

Both new, never mounted or run.

The first is a RAL Micron 40 as shown.
No paperwork or decals, made in Italy.

The second (two photos) has the letter "D" with the letter "H" inside it, engraved on the bypass, along with the size, 45.
It's in a beautifully made wooden box and there's a rather tatty parts list, printed in both Spanish (or Portuguese) and English.
On the right lug is inscribed "C-5382-6.
Weighs 11.9 ounces without muffler.

Any clues from the "EXPERTS"?

Bob, the MICRON is a re-badged ROSSI, while the 2nd engine is by DH Devoto & Sons, made by INDUSTRY DEVOTO METALLURGICAL AND SONS, ARGENTINA

Bob,
The front end of the DH Devoto has some features like an HB PDP engine. Are there any connections there?

Dave, the SNORER engines are a copy of the MVVS, so it would be logical to copy an established design, rather than start from scratch yourself. Another engine from Argentina is the JP in 35 & 40 size

Great information, Guys, THANKS.
I had no idea as to the identity of these two engines.
I have quite a few more that I will post soon.
They will go to the Brodak Museum so that people can learn and enjoy.

Bob, the engine on the bottom is a MICRON 28 - same name as the Italian job, but made in France, and no relation.
