Title: Tutor is Tuned
Post by: Ryan Taylor on November 14, 2006, 06:42:04 PM
Well we flew the tutor yesterday, and it finally feels real nice. My dad has it flying slow, but I still have the line tension and the power to do some stunt. Even though its an ARF, I am extremely satisfied with its abilities. I just can't wait to really master some new stunts. Here is a shot of the plane that almost takes off with me still holding on...

I must say the kid can fly. This Tutor pulls way harder then my TwistStang.
He is coming off a Flite Streak and he likes to fly fast. He hangs it out there inverted better then I can.

Engine is a LA .46, the plane is all stock but the bell crank, lead outs and push rod.

Way to go Ryan!
Hey, those ARF's are a big part of me getting back into the sport.  I never wanted to try any of the more difficult stunts, for fear that I'd smack up a model that I spent a ton of time on.  With an ARF there is little time to build and not the high level of emotional attachment.  I learned to try more difficult stunts with an ARF.  If you keep learning at the rate you are, you'll be in Expert class in no time.

P.S.  Don't sweat building that Akromaster, you'll do fine.  You'll learn some valuable building skills and gain some confidence at the same time.  If you get stuck, ask Dad or post a question on the forum.  Simple

I agree with you completely. When I decided to get back in I ordered a Flite Streak ARF.
At one time I felt that if you were to lazy to build the model, you didn't deserve to fly. When I got fired up to try flying again I ordered it and got in a few flights so quickly that the fire didn't get a chance to go out. After the first few flights it was like gasoline on the fire. Now I am planning to build a few models, but I am not sure if I would have got to this point without an ARF.

the tutor  was the first airplane i bought after a 30 year lay off and of course it was the first plane i crashed after 30 years. man that fuse really exploded. it's back together and flys really good. better than me. it just has a nice feel to it good pull and seems really stable. it make me want to fly above my ability.

Ryan,

Nice plane.   Your dad was complaining about how hard it pulls and how much stronger you are than he is.  Slow ain't so bad is it?

I hope to get over there soon to fly again.
