Tulsa Gluedobbers WebCam
« on: March 05, 2013, 06:40:17 AM »
Finally had a good enough day to get the 2nd camera up for our webcam. This idea originally started with thinking we needed a way for the club members to check to see if anyone was at the field from home. We soon discovered that the guys like to park under the trees in the summer and a single camera couldn't cover both parking areas.

I wrote the Windows app that captures the images and uploads them via FTP to a web server and Stan Tyler wrote the html and script to display the images on the web. We are pretty happy with the way it works. Sometimes the web site tries to refresh your browser when the image is being uploaded and you will either get 1/2 a picture or a black image, simply wait for the next refresh and it should be good.

This is direct link to the webcan site, we haven't updated the Gluedobbers site yet to point the web cam link to the new dual camera page but that will happen in the next day or so.

Just noticed, looks like we might have a little issue with sun flair in the mornings with the East facing camera. Not much we can do about it, it will go away when the sun gets a little higher.

Ya, most of the time, especially this time of year not much going on. Contest weekends in the summer are the best, other weekends are hit and miss as our most active members may be at another contest. I hope to get some morning practice flights in this summer which might be any weekday morning between 6 and 10AM.

I will see what I can do for clubs who have this type thing to post a video here. A designated spot.

Where's the snow??? LL~ LL~  Anyway I can see how this will help some folks,  but those that live a little ways away might pull it up and see someone flying.  Then get there and they are all gone.  Anyway I like what you guys are doing.
