I just checked out the CAM. Watched for about 30 seconds. WOW - No Wind!
I really should be there. It was a regular stop in the 60's for free flight. Don't think it was the same field for CL back then. If it was then I flew stunt. Flew A-1, A-2 some 1/2A gas and HLG. Memory is foggy on Stunt. You could fly both back then because you signed up to fly when you were ready so you could go chuck a few HLG's run over and fly stunt then grab your Nordics for some real exercise all at the same field in the same day. Boy have things changed. Any of you old timers remember if Tulsa had both CL and FF at the same field in the 60's?
Great looking flying site. Have Fun!

That will disqualify you from consideration for the Supreme Court BUT, :! if it will distract the judges enough for them to miss my horrible intersections on the 8's, I would consider it. y1

The old location of Gluedobber field was at the corner of 145th East Ave. and 41st street South. Huge triple A contests were held there.
Free Flight, Controline and R/C were contested at the same time.
George Aldrich and Wild Bill Netzeband were both Gluedobber members back in the late 1950's, and early 1960's.

The scoring of Moon maneuvers is as follows;
1/4 Moon (plumber's moon) 10 points
1/2 half moon 20 points
3/4 moon 30 points
Full Moon 40 points

We almost had a mooning one year when a combat pilot's shorts fell down!

Then my memory is not as bad as I thought. I am pretty sure I was there in 64 and 65. I ran around with an avid free flighter named Don Chancey. He had a car and I didn't so if there was no free flight, there was no contest! Don caught his final thermal back in 2012 after setting several national records and representing the US in Nordic. He was also my best friend and I miss him.
Those old AAA's were something else. I was a Senior then and it was not unusual to have over 20 entries just in Senior. HLG in free flight was a cattle call. Double elimination Combat that lasted all day. High Point Trophies. A time gone bye. Winning one of those contests was an achievement. The Southwestern's in Dallas used to be that way too when we had the whole airport to play with. Now it is just a bunch of soccer fields.

Dang.
What would mooning a highway patrolman score? I ask because I have done that.
-
Mooning a Hypo?
That would be 40 points minus your blood alcohol content!

But we had not been drinking.
In fairness, he was in an unmarked car.

OK, 40 points it is.

Well the old, old DOC was planning on being there, but you know how things go. Will be checking the web cam every so often. :(

Is that for the round or the square? Also do you lose pattern points if you don't do two revolutions?
Ken

We only score one shot of round moons.

I got home from Reeves field about an hour ago. I just checked the webcam, and we still have 8 vehicles out there flying and having fun. It was a real good turnout for a Thursday before a contest.

Good Luck Jamie! Just remember it's not good if the judges moon you after your flight!
Fly the flats, the corners will come(JD)

Well earlier today I got on the web cam and some one has their oversize motor home in the way. mw~
-
I inquired about the motor home. They said there was no where else to put it where it wouldn’t sink into the yard- too heavy. Sorry folks.
