Where I am this week
« on: June 30, 2009, 11:50:06 PM »
Ok, The shark 402 is on hold. I do not have access to a drill press and need to drill the engine mounts.
The akromaster is complete but so far the engine is fighting me. I got a run or 2 but that was it. Looking to get my starter and but new clipson it and give that a try.
My .061 Norvel mounted to my mitestunt runs good.
I got it to give me 3 good runs with easy starts today.
I need to put something on it to be able to launch it. And then I can offically have 1 flying model.
I want to build something but what depends on the engine that I have running. So far it will be 1/2A. So many choices. I plan to order wood from Lone star next week and then I'll see what I build.

 Jim;

  If you have a Harbor Freight near you your Drill Press problem is easily solved. They have a Bench Top Drill Press on sale for $39.99 ( 50% off). It's not a super precision Press but will serve you well for most jobs.

For years I had a little hand drill that I used.  Some times the bit was a nail that had the head cut off.  Then after I got married I found a unit that held my 3/8th's electric drill.  It was a so called drill press and did its job.  Then I got my Shop Smith in which one of the functions was a drill press or horizontal drill. Used that for years until a couple of  years ago Harbor Freight had the little drill press on sale.   Best buy I ever made.  Portable and takes up little room.  But, if you drill from the engine side of the mounts, it can be done fairly close.  DOC Holliday
