Tuesday...Some Flying
« on: April 16, 2013, 04:30:25 PM »
Got the call yesterday afternoon, to join Pete Peterson and Mike Haverly at 10:30/11AM today (Tuesday) at Auburn Muni for some stunt flying. We each got a few flights in, two for me. They were my first flights of Spring. Pretty ragged, but first run was a bit slow. I was happy enough that I was able to hang onto the handle, because my hands have been stiff and painful in the morning. No ARF R/C or baseball was seen, played, or even mentioned during the session. Oddly enough, Dave Gardner showed up, but only to collect some of Ian Russell's funny vintage dismal (sic) engines from Pete. I got home, got unloaded and it started pissing down rain! We dodged the bullet on that!

All in all, there were no airplanes broken, tho Pete's engine didn't seem to be in the mood to run right. None of Mike's batteries burst into flames, and none of the smoke got out of the wires, but Pete and I are both getting tired of all that "electric's are better" BS. They are. We know they have many advantages. Everybody just doesn't want to fly electric, so leave it alone!  R%%%% Steve

PS: Got the call to go bass fishing tomorrow morning. Life is such a grind...  #^

Lucky for you Steve.
My first two flights of spring crashed my super clown (now officially decommissioned) and my sons beautiful NEW akromaster.
The akromaster I was able to repair.
Yesterday, I got the akromaster back in the air. What a blast. Also flew my Oriental without any crashes.
Enjoy the bass fishing. It doesn't open up here until May. HB~>

Retired is when you were tired yesterday and tired again today, but got to work at home. Somewhat like weekends, but without the glory of going someplace else for most of the week, plus your paycheck only comes once a month, auto deposited by the US goobermint.  (051) Steve

C'mon Steve, I never said a word about better, only that I never miss a needle setting.  Besides, you know salmon are bigger, fight harder, and we eat what we catch!

Steve,
I'll be down Friday morning with ideas of flying with Mike over at Auburn.  Should get there about 10:00.  I'll head down to Portland later in the afternoon.  If the weather doesn't cooperate I'll be at Mike's.

Glad to hear you guys got some flying in.   It has been cold and wet here.   Just outside with the insurance man over the tree damage and it started that misserable misty rain.    I'd rather have snow when it is this cold.   At my age I am still udecided about electric, I don't care how reliable it is.  With the cost of a complete electric setup I could get that Umland Ringmaster Imperial I want.

Doc, you can probably throw in a new OS .46LA with that, too.  That is if you are looking at the "High Zoot" systems that the big boys use.............
