Title: Tucson report, the final day of classic.
Post by: John Miller on March 19, 2011, 03:13:26 PM
The excellent weather held for us, making this one of the best VSC's weather wise ever. I was busy flying, but tried to get a few pictures anyway.

The banquet and awards will be tonight, I can tell you that Bobby did it again.

One highlight of the contest was a fly-over by a B-1 bomber!  Of course my camera was back at the motel!  HB~>

That is one sleek looking airplane!

Hey John, I like that shot captioned "early flights and the jitters" because that's ME standing there in the black t-shirt in the "next up" position jittering up a storm! Bob Brookins and the LaDonna are on the circle finishing a flight and I'm nervous as hell because this was my last chance to put up a good one. Day one was a throwaway flight because it was the Tempest's first pattern and the prop just wasn't grabbing any air. Day two was better but I was still being cautious with the plane. This last chance was going to be "it" and it was 1/2 point of being a 500 score (500 is a big deal to me) so I was pretty happy with it.

.....Of course an hour later Bart grabbed the handle of my Tempest and proceeded to put up what appeared to be a 550 point flight having never flown the thing before.... ::)

Speaking of the Tempest-it is back in its second home in New Mexico but will be waiting for you at Whittier Narrows for the Bob Palmer Contest. Great pics John, best VSC ever for me.  8)

VSC is an amazing event in all ways.  Just seeing pictures of everyone there, and knowing the number of people who show up, and how great those people are, both as pilots and people, makes me really want to attend one.  Lends credence to the term "Pipe Dream"......

Oh man, as much as I agree, let's not go there for the bazillionth time guys.

Great satire with that one though Howard, the only pipe at VSC should be Gieseke's. y1
