Tucson Appearance and first day of Classic report
« on: March 17, 2011, 03:13:19 PM »
I tried to get a decent picture of every plane that was out for appearance judging. I apologise if I missed anyone.

This morning, the weather is scheduled to change with a good chance of windy weather this afternoon. Fortunately, we finished up without experiencing too much wind.

Several incidences happened, the worst being the loss of Steve Moons Shoestring during an official.

John Calantine's Mustang tried to nose over when the wind caught the tail on roll out. It appears that some damage to the finish on the underside of the nose may have occured. I was not aqble to get over to see personally as I was up on my circle.

Not too many pics of the action, as I was busy trying to fly.

In Memory of a few of our departed friends, their planes were put on the line, one last time.

Jeff Welliver's Tempest, which now resides at Bart Klapinski's home, and

Jim Armours Sheeky Shiek, which now resides at Bob Whitelys home.

Thanks again John! The pictures are wonderful.

That is one of the best collections of well built and finished airplanes that you will ever see.

I hope that someone will have info on the engines used in all the airplanes.

By the way the demented poodle did not qualify for appearance points.  Clint was all smiles today after a flight with his Tempest.   Seems a little CA and a different prop made a world of difference.  So many gorgeous planes at the field I could not pick one to be top plane.  Will have to wait til banquet night.   H^^
