Title: Trixter Barnstormer
Post by: Garf on October 04, 2008, 03:06:28 PM
Does anyone know where the CG is supposed to be on the Trixter Barnstormer? I have one that is tailheavy even with an EVO 36 and muffler. Mine wobbles when you try to turn a sharp corner. When I hang it by the leadouts, it yaws outward.

On the plans (a pdf from the ModelAviation Archives- Dec 1984)  the CG is shown just at the front of the canopy. Here is a jpg of the plan.

I love how the control horn is bolted to the 'stabilizer' on those plans.  LL~

Hadn't noticed that! Had to look at it two or three times. I think what is confusing is that the stab could be interpreted as a 2 piece elevator --guess that is what happened when the pieces were labeled!

I've yet to figure out why the stabilizer has a huge cut out... There doesn't seem to be any reason for it.  The mistake on the plans was the first thing I noticed when I rolled them out.

The "cutout" in the stab is the shadow of the fuselage.

As recieved, it balanced ok. After the overhaul and a coat of paint, it was tailheavy.

Just make sure you put the horn on the part that wiggles.  ;D
