Title: Trivial Observation - Vector
Post by: Harleyman on March 22, 2006, 10:47:30 AM
Is it me or has interest in the Vector 40 grown substantially in the last few months?

It may be because I'm REALLY REALLY interested in building one and will when my current projects are complete.

Maybe I'm experiencing something like, when you're interested in a certain new car and then you start to notice them on the road more.

I've told Wynn in New Z. to box up and send me his new Vector, on a couple different occasions.

 :P :D ;D ;)

Its not you!
hehe I remember the first pic I seen of a Vector 40, I knew I  had to have one.
Every pic I've seen since then has only made me want one that much more.
Also, I haven't seen one that looked bad yet, heh I bet you could totally <sp>
mess up the paint job, and the plane would still look good.
I also read from others that it flies very well. and I really like the size of it.
I'm working on one now, heh so I guess that dreams sometimes do come true.
Now if I could only "dream" me a supermodel into existence near the building
board . . . heh it'd take longer to get the plane done, but hey, who'd care?

Ash i just jealous....he turned up the week before I finished my vector with his new 3-d Looking plane and everyone was all over it......
then I turned up the next week and no-one looked twice at his pukey profile....all lights on my Vector..> HA HA..take that ASH.....

Nah, it is all good.....I did have a mishap (clipped the prop on one flight, then hit the undercarriage on the next one.)  All fixed, all good,

Sorry Chris, still no dice on the Shipping side of it.......still waiting for the $3000 Cheque to clear...HA

Hey Chris,
Maybe if you sell that Harly engine that is sitting on your bench collecting dust you can come up with the money to send to Wynn for shipping.

Then when I come up there this summer you will let me take a turn at flying it? :P

I went for the BBQB too...not the bearcat III........but may get one of those as well..........maybe.

Cool. The BBQB and some huge engine will make the Vector look like a toy 8)

The check didn't clear yet? - - - Dang.
Just wait, it will some day.

I'm glad to hear you didn't turn it into an instant kit though.

Paul, sorry can't sell the motor just yet, I have plans for it.  Besides, it would take some major mods to the Twiststang nose to make it fit.

P.S.  Thanks for the K points guys!

As to the Vector..........
My son wanted a *little* different plane for his first NATS.  The Vector II was born.  An OS 40VF piped Vector.  Did surprisingly well with abut 10 flights on it when it came time for officials!  Was pushing 500 with it.  Year was 1996.  That plane is still airworthy and has a bazillion flights on it.  :o

Well, Aaron finally joined up tonight, and we'll see if we can get some pictures of it on here.

A short story about his "special" plane and his first NATS.
We flew the plane's first flight the night before we left for Muncie.  Brand new and ready to go.  Red white and blue color scheme in a pattern of the day.
It now has a black "anti glare" panel thanks to a gust of wind at the lower end of the L-pad immediately after the plane touched down on the last practice flight before appearance judging!  It flipped the plane on it's back shattering the canopy.  It was about an hour before it had to go on the floor in the gym.  First NATS, and a freak accident.  I think it still got 14 points with a clear taped up canopy.  One great point was that everyone there was willing to help us all week.  Bob Gieseke, Bob Hunt, Billy Werwage, Ted Fancher,  Mikey Pratt, Windy, Bill Rich, Papa Dave Hemstraught, Bob "Champione", Paul, and a host of others.
The accident was disheartening to say the least under the circumstances.  But it didn't affect the flying characteristics, and was a quick repair when we got home.
