Title: Trip to Graves Hobby shop in Orlando, FL - Great place!!
Post by: Dennis Toth on January 18, 2018, 06:59:13 AM
Guys,
Have been in Orlando, FL for the last few days and had some time so took a side trip to Graves Hobby Shop. Graves is an old time hobby shop, planes hanging from the rafters, stuff all over tucked away in corners, tons of kits, wood, paint and hard to find stuff (Enya glow plugs). I got props that I was looking for all over, they had it, shaped glider wing wood, Xoar, Vess and Zinger wood props and Enya No.3 plugs.

If you are in the Orlando, FL area it is worth the trip over to N Orange Blossom trail, they are east of Disney about a 20 minute drive. They do have a website: www.gravesrc.com but going there is so much better.

Best,    DennisT

Dennis,

Been there a half dozen times, I wish I knew you were going, I would have suggested you ask them if you could go into the 'back' storage area.

You need a high clearance and a thumb print identity to enter. Kidding.

Every September they have a swap meet that usually is very good.  (Unless a hurricane comes)

The owner, Bill Graves passed away not long ago and I was wondering how his sons were running it.

John (Bill's son) and Dillon (Bill's grandson) are in our club. Great modelers, great people!
A Hobby shop run by true modelers. A must "stop in" if in the Orlando area.

How many remember when Orange Blossom was across the street in the old Paint store with a back room full of old flying magazines and bench's where kids could work on their planes on Saturdays then go down the street to the Royal Castle for 15 cent hamburgers and 8 cent Birch Beers
