Got my Demon in the mail today this is about 4 hours work so far.So can anyone see what I didnt do? ARRRRG!!

I forgot to drill the engine mount holes

Oh well live onward and upward

Look on the bright side... you didn't glue the balsa to the back side of the motor mounts yet!

It is a Byron Barker a.k.a. C. F. Slattery OS Max 40 fp retimed and hemi-ed for stunt with a 11-4 prop. I would suggest an APC 12 X 4 Sport cut to 11 inches.

That's what I flew at the 69' Nats at Willow Grove. Mine was powered by a Fox Blackhead Combat Special. Still have both the plane & the engine.

Even thou I prefered the Sneeker, I seemed to end up with the Demon. I never predrilled the engine mount holes. I use an extra long drill bit for the holes. I used the ST G21 35.

Say, James, that's not a stock Demon, is it...longer tail booms. Did it help it turn? Mine kinda slid around hard corners.

No it isnt stock, it also has a longer wing span, looks like it would be a real killer and fast!!

Wellll.... Todd did 'fix' a couple of things. Longer booms, and smoothed out the airfoil. Still running the hard tank with backplate pressure... using a restrictor to keep under 75 for speed limit combat. Lots o fun

I can't see it in the picture, but if you haven't done it, I would
drill to 1/4" holes through the engine mounts and balsa crutch and epoxy in some 1/4 " dowels. I also usually cover the engine pod out to an 1" or so with fiberglass cloth for strength. It might sound a little over board, but I still have a Voodoo I built on the carrier in Viet Nam and it's still strong and no cracks. I run mine with a reworked G21-35, 9-7 Rev-up, pacifier tank and about 25% Nitro. I use to use 40% Nitro when I flew competition.
Have fun and practice turning around real fast or doing a lot of maneuvers while standing still.

That's one strength of the Demon...with that diamond airfoil lying flat on the table it's really hard to build a warp into it! We could (and did) build a fleet of 'em in a week, betw'n contests.

Yes,

I was looking for a Classic legal ship to carry easily in the car and fly Classic and Expert in rough weather. So the reason for the stunt tuned .40 and the 11 X 4 prop.

The voodoo used balsa between the engine bearers, the sneeker and demon used "hard" wood there. I never doweled the sneeker or demon and never had the area break. Everything else broke, not that.
