Title: Trexeler Tires sp?
Post by: John Craig on February 22, 2011, 08:01:32 AM
I now have a few old Trexeler tires that I would like to salvage.  The rubber stem has been twisted together so long that it no longer allows air to pass.  Any ideas on how to open it up?  Recommendations on how to keep them in good condition as long as possible?

They're made of natural rubber, generally when the stems won't open up, the party's over. I have on occasion been able to massage them open, but they don't last long. The thing to remember is that when you're not using them, unwind the stem and deflate the tire and leave them like that until you go flying the next time, this will extend their useful life quite a bit

OK... this is something new to me.

Anyone have a picture of these?

I assume these are for scale planes?
