Tough day flying in Alameda

Well it was a tough day in Alameda Ca. we had to fly in 60* degree weather and avoid the bright sun in are eyes, the wind was about 3-5 mph at are back but we tough it out.  Due to the economy Howard had to down size his Oriental to 1/2a size.

Here in Northeast Oklahoma we seem to be in a No-Fly Zone. For a while it was pretty much a no-drive zone also.

   I too had to suffer in Central California , I forgot the sunblock and got a sunburn!

I too flew today. It was chivering cold at 55 degrees, and that pesky 5mph wind kept changing directions. Almost lost it when the plane went infront of the sun, good thing I had my sunglasses on.

Grass, so that is what the green stuff is.  Temps here finally got to mid 30's.  I am glad Oklahoma kept all the snow and ice down there.  We got about 1/2 inch of snow.

Boy it sure is tough when the grass grows and the sun shines, lawn mowers and sun screen ,sun glasses this make's it tough on a flying day.
BUT YOU GOTTA DO THE BEST YOU CAN, even a bad day of flying after waiting for your turn is still better than no flying at all.

Hay, Larry...Any news about Heman's recovery from his kidney transplant? May I speak for all, saying that we're concerned and hoping for a great outcome. I hope it works as well as my old rat racing partner's wife's...she's still on the same one, same old med still works like a champ. Say hello for us... Steve

Hi everybody,

I am doing fine.  I was going to come down to Alameda for the New Years Day Potluck, but I flu wiped me out for 5 weeks, which is longer than normal because of the immunnosuppressant.   If you have not heard the Woodland field is still open for another year, but only for contest.  The R/C guys are moving to our side for regular flyer, so C/L practice at the field is very limited.  Most of the guys in the club are flying at other locations.

Larry, I will try to make it down to Alemeda sometime next month.   I wil have my 6 months post transplant appointment on the 23rd.  I sould have clearance to go back to work by then.

Thanks for the snow Pete, it was very welcome. It was fun especially in the afternoon with it still coming down.  The parents, or at least a few of them do not know that packed snow gets slick.  I think we got maybe a good 6 inches of the wet white stuff.  At least the temps were bearable, above freezing.  You know I think I would rather be out in the snow than rain.  At least you don't get so wet.  Did see one parent go down in the parking lot where the snow had been cleared, but no ice melt yet.  I also managed not to get run over as well as keep the students out of harms way.  People don't know what 25 mph means in a school zone.

That is Duane Roach, not Bob English.  Bob has switch to the Dark Side (R/C) and is flying at Woodland.

Howard said it is a Pinto increase by 25%  the wing span is 37 7/8" Has a TD .049 with pressure fitting in back plate, weight is 13 oz, seams to fly good still needs triming, and longer lines he flew it on 42' lines and it was fast like a combat plane, 52's should help.
