From the truly brain dead. Winter has struck the Winter Olympics.
And curious minds need to know dept. Record number of condoms distributed at the Winter Olympics.

Probably first year in my adult life I have zero interest
Slowly losing interest in NFL
Lost all interest in base ball
NASAR is slowly fading of me
F-1 gone too
never got soccer...super boring...to me
Basket ball is out
still attend local drag and circle track stuff
Basically sports entertainment for me has become too mundane and predictable.... I dearly miss my days deployed over seas as a soldier and staying up all night for the spectacle ...sadly today mostly a very long infomercial and very little actual sport of agony and defeat

Hey Fred, this answers your "where should I move" question! Move to the SF Bay Area, preferably within sight of Oracle Arena, and go nuts for the Golden State Warriors. Even when they move to SF in 2019 they are still the local team. My daughter was hitting at the driving range at our muni course in Alameda recently and realized the guy next to her was Steph Curry. Andre Iguadala is also a regular. Very active dirt track scene in Stockton and Sacramento. Some good shooting ranges and endless waterfowl hunting. Cost of living is the drawback but don't need to live in the priciest areas.

Let's see, lets get a bunch of the world healthiest and physically fit kids in their early 20's, put them in a closed village with no external access and no one to report on their activities, it's the middle of a very cold winter, and a ski jump contest is about 30 seconds of actual action during a 16-day event.
Don't shine a black light around inside the Olympic Villiage.

thats hilarious! It is indeed a recipe for hanky panky now now ain't it! Hundreds of uber fit boys and girls in their teens to twenties, all huddled together, minimal supervision.... far away from mom and dad......lol!!
Yeah, black light would be a bad idea.

I just skip it and go to sleep ;D
Normally I do like to sit and watch the olympics, but mother Army has kept me from all but one. This year I find myself yet again at Ft Irwin National Training Center, this time coaching THREE Shadow platoons. And coaching they need LL~

Watching the skiing on the slopes and the supposedly subtle jumps still amazes me like watching the local dirt track racers running around the oval. i ask them once in a while how they keep the car from trying to teardown the wall. Practice they tell me. But those skiers making those turns at the speeds they are sliding is still scary. The other event is the jumping off the ski ramp and floating//falling own that slope of a hill/mountain. The skate boarders I consider the crazies as they fly through the air doing twists and flips. But hopefully these young adults have enough common sense to not play around. D>K

Mike that is too funny... dad was at the Nam as I went to schools in the greater Oakland bay area 1969 to 1973 when drafted
Charley O Finnly had a policy that school kid could ride the bus free and for a buck watch an A's game...unfortunately Vida Blue no hitters were a boring spectacle for me
Radier's at the time were kicking ass every year...smash mouth and cheating (not in my mind) I was a true raider Nation nut case...still am
San Fran 49s were a force also but I got jazzed mostly on Montana and Rice...too much fun to watch
As west coast kid I love the Sea Hawks expansion
There is a lot of enthusiasm still in me....
There is so much I love about California... Sister has her own Winery in Gillroy and is doing well with the Bed N breakfast and sales
Gun laws, politics, cost of living, taxes, and insane traffic are real big and serious negatives
Edited in as a side thought
In high school 1969~1973 I knew or saw: Timothy leery, Patty Hurst, Anglia Davis, and delivered the Oakland Tribune to Huey Newton at 1500 lake Shore drive Penthouse....
Until I got thrown out* of the seminary type college prep school ---Saint Mary's In Berkeley (Jesuit education) I was not terribly exposed to the insane socialists in the public school system... the final year at Oakland High... the only faculty that was NOT a Communist was our ROTC instructor
In HS I took a few AP classes at Berkeley... every professor was a self proclaimed socialist...fact
* discovered girls(sex) , dope, alcohol and managed a dismal 0.0 GPA one semester... my bad

People crashing in the snow and ice is always entertaining. I never watch the summer games but try to catch the winter ones.

Never heard of "Snowboardcross" before...spectacular and scary looking 5-up race down a course with mega jumps, curves and crashes...a new favorite. The Snowboard Half-pipe is almost tame by comparison. I appreciate the thrill of victory and agony of defeat, particularly for the individual events.
Curling is not my cup of tea, I guess. It's like watching somebody else's paint dry, IMO. I think I'm in good enough physical shape to be an Olympic Curling Team Member...and that's not anything to be proud of! LL~ Steve

I agree, the snowboard competitions are insane, Slope Style, Half Pipe and the Snowboard cross, heck the most exciting thing at the winter Olympics back when we were that age was the ski jump.

Curling is the second greatest sport and spectator event there is! Of course you know what the best is..
If you want to see an Olympics "fitness" example, check out the guys on the bottom in the men's doubles luge. They don't really push, they don't steer, their sole purpose is to act as ballast, the more the better.

Just watched the snow board cross. They must be insane or have way more nerve than I have. The distances that they are flying through the air and the speed. Makes motocross look tame. Hope the one boarder get fixed up after his crash. Don't like seeing any one get hurt. D>K

I prefer to watch Japanese Sumo wrestling. Keeps reminding me to watch my diet and stay slim. (don't let that happen to ME)
