Title: Tool suggestions for my Christmas list....
Post by: Scott Richlen on November 25, 2017, 08:46:55 AM
Christmas is coming, so what are some good building tools that I can add to my "wish list"?  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

Hey, I like those Perma-Grit tools. Also the blocks below in the "Frequently bought together" picture. Santa's gonna have to be rich this year. My Ancient early model Dremel is about to give up the ghost. Or the bearings.
So that probably takes priority.

As Dave said. My boys get me that for Father's Day one year. A must have.

Every time that I am at a exhibition and see the Perma Grit Guys I am 'Consumed by Guilt', my sanding block gets used pretty much every time that I go into my ManCave (couple of times per week), and have done so for around 20 years, really feel that nothing should be that good and last that long!!!!!!!

3D printer..... ROCKS (my Chrimbo Pressie from me to me last year).

I am (maybe, possibly, see what 'she' thinks about the idea) looking at a lathe, do I need one, NO, do I want one, YES.

A small lathe - you will use it way more than you think.  Although, a drill press is a real necessity if you don't already have one.  I also use the tar out of a 1 inch band sander.  I seem to have listed these in order of most to least expensive.

Looking at a cnc router for me.  These old hands are getting more cranky all the time when I have to do inlay work on really hard woods.  Most likely it'll be a Piranha from Woodcraft.

I'd go with a "mini" lathe.  %^@  That way I could make my own venturi's!  y1

Don't really need tools.  What I need is a shop 4 times bigger than I have. LL~ LL~

Couple of years ago, I splurged and bought myself a Makita 18v 1/2" drill kit with charger and two batteries. I've used the SNOT out of that thing this summer, building fences, gates, etc., PLUS I use the battery packs for running my Sullivan (12v.) starter to fire up my OS .46VF and various other model engines. Mostly on 3 blade CF props, 'cause I like my fingers for holding beer bottles.  :D Steve

PS: Got the Makita kit from CPO, and the starter adapter from a place in AZ.  I've posted about it before...still in love!

Well guys I splurged this past Saturday at the Shawnee Mission RC Club swap meet.   Bought me a fairly new, at least it looks new battery power Dremel toll with all the attachments for $20.00 and two sets of wheels for a dollar a set.   One set is came on landing gear like a pylon racer..

Yes, as previously mentioned 3D printer. But that is not really a tool, more like and obsession as you never end thinking of stuff to try printing. Sort of like a pickup truck. When people discover you have on they are always asking if you can print this or that. Like when you have a pickup truck all of a sudden you find yourself the local moving man.  ;D
