Title: Too Funny
Post by: Zuriel Armstrong on February 19, 2007, 04:34:00 PM
I got this picture today and had to post it (sorry Mike) >:D  I think most of us can tell exactly what is going through his mind, or mouth, right about now.

This picture was taken about 5 minutes before I met Mike and the late Don Dixon.  That was a beautiful flying site in Maumelle, AR in 2000.  It was also the home to the SMALL Contest.

Mike,
I know how you felt.

Hope we can hook up in a few weeks.

Is that a jug of Arkansas moonshine that I see in the photo? If it it was that should have eased the pain.

This moment was the result of my son's first attempt at inverted with my new Tomahawk. He was actually doing real well until he forgot which way was up. This is a closer view of the aftermath and my then 14 year old son, Damon. I do have to say that a little moonshine would have been nice at that point.  y1

From the statement I hope your son is still around.  Also I hope you congradulated him for what inverted flight he did do.  By the way how long did it take to rebuild?  DOC Holliday

Damon's still around. I was just kidding about the moonshine.  #^  In spite of what the pictures may look like, we had a good laugh about it and he did get a pat on the back for trying. I'm always glad to see Damon try. Because he's a kid, he has no fear. One of the first things I told Damon when he first started long ago was that if you didn't have a sense of humor about boos boos like this, you need to have a different hobby because stuff happens.  y1 After messing with it some, I decided the best thing to do was to build another Tomahawk. I was dissatisfied with how I'd done some things when I built it and there were some weight issues. It needed a new wing and getting the old wing out pretty much did in the fuselage. I still haven't built another Tomahawk. That may soon change. I'd forgotten how much I liked the looks of this one.

Hi Mike,

Time to build another Tomahawk!  It's a pretty good flying little Profile!  OS 25s and OS 20 FPs in the ones around here.  My "old" flying buddy has just built one.  It's pretty rugged!

I learned to fly inverted with quite a bunch of Tomahawks. I just picked up a set of plans for another one.

I have one with a BBTU OS 20 Fp.  It has gained too much weight........
My buddy has the same, and Steve Fitton has one with a stock OS 25 FP.  All fly nicely.  All are great in the wind.

I think a light one would fly fine with my old plain bearing Veco 19!
