Just received a phone call from Tom. He is in Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX with heart problems.
He is in room 597. The hospital phone no. is 972 981 8000. His cel is 469 450 7093.
He sounded good, asked me to post this message. He would appreciate receiving phone calls.

I just called Tom a few minutes ago & he did sound good, although he said that yesterday he didn't sound so good or feel very good. Plenty of tests going on & his spirits are good. The number for the hospital was for the Presbyterian Hospital but the lady said they had nobody by that name registered there. I then called his cell number & Tom answered right away; he said that he is indeed in that hospital and is in room #597. It sounds like the prognosis is good & he will know more in a couple of days when the test results are in.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom.

Thanks for the information and update Don, and get well soon Tom. y1

Definitely praying for you Tom! Take care and get well soon!

I do not hear well on the phone. So if someone sees this let Tom know the old DOC Holliday is thinking of him. Also I pray that he gets better.

Tom, You have my support for your good health always. Hang in and calm air to you.---louie

Just got of the phone with Tom. He is in good spirits and can hardly wait to get out to build and fly. Get well my friend!

I just got a call from Tom. He is still in the hospital and today underwent testing to determine what needs to be done with respect to his heart. He won't know for a day or so whether he will have to undergo bypass surgery or if he will be released with a regimen of medications for the time being. Tom asked me to pass this on to all, and to let everyone know that he can be reached on his cell phone (469-450-7093.)
Tom also mentioned that his wife Linda goes into the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) for surgery on her neck. Seems like everything happens at once. Tom does not have access to a computer in the hospital so he is not posting here.

I just now got off the phone with Tom, he is in good spirits, has a strong voice and asked me to relay this information.
He is to have heart bypass surgery in the next few days; stents, medication, etc, have been ruled out. He is at the Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. He will be unable to attend the DMAA annual Frijididjit Fun/Fly tomorrow to welcome in the New Year.
His wife, Linda, underwent surgery on her neck today and all went well. Although still somewhat groggy from the anesthetic, she said the surgery must have been successful as the feeling seemed to be returning and the pain of the last month had lessened.
Their daughter, Jennifer, is in town, trading back and forth between two hospitals taking care of both her parents, a really fine daughter!
Tom looks forward to hearing from his fellow flyers, "pick up th' 'phone, make a call...."

Edit: Put Tom in the correct hospital......

Update:
Numerous delays on Tom's surgery, I just talked to him and he is to go in for the bypass in a few minutes, originally scheduled for noon, about a four hour procedure.
His wife, Linda, had to return to the hospital for some pain relief, but she is back home now, doing well.
Jen, their daughter, is doing what daughters do, taking good care of both her parents.

I spoke to Tom just about the same time as Dale did, and Tom was all prepped, and
waiting to be wheeling into surgery. For those of you that don't know, Tom is
slated for quadruple bypass surgery.
I just wanted to mention that Tom sounded good, his voice was strong and he
appears to be in good spirits (as best as one can be in that critical situation).
Tom said that he has received calls from all across the country, and he is thankful
for the many friends he has, and that the calls really mean a lot. Give him a few days to recover,
and then if you have a chance, give him a call on his cell phone (number above)....I'm sure he will
appreciate it.
Here's hoping for a very successful operation, and a speedy recovery.
Get well Tom.
Cheers.

Best wishes for a great guy in his surgery. I'm heartened to hear this, as several friends have done quite well after this surgery. They have felt much better. Go get'em Tom!
-
Having been through this myself almost two years ago, I can relate. Recovery can be a bit rough, but it will all be worth it. That first day that they get you up to walk is hard, but I really did not have that much pain. I have prayed for both Tom and Linda, and their daughter also. Get well soon.

Tom finally got into the surgery around 4p.m. yesterday and is now recuperating in I.C.U. He will be there a few days. He is NOT in room 597 any longer, the gentleman there now would like to get some sleep, so we probably should refrain from calling there anymore.
The information I've received has been from Jen, Tom's daughter, who is keeping a close eye on her Dad. Until he is out of I.C.U., he is not up to taking calls, understandably. Although bypass heart surgery is common-place these days, as Jim Kraft said, it's still rough sledding through recovery, and Tom is handling it well.

Hoping you will have a fast recovery and get back home soon Tom.. hang in there.

Linda, Tom's wife, called this morning to report that Tom is making progress although he was in ICU four days. He is being moved around a lot. He is now in room 571, phone is 972-981-8000, Plano Presbyterian Hospital. He can see visitors, if you're out that way.
Just a few days ago, Linda had neck surgery to re-align vertebrae to alleviate pressure/pain all the way down to her ankles. But, she is up and about and on her way to visit Tom this morning. She is one tough gal, I tell you what! Both of them are!
dg
Well, both of them are not tough gals...only one of them is.....oh, fudge! you know what I mean...

Yep, with all our prayers, they will both come through this together. Hopefully will see all sometime this summer.

I have been tellin Tom for several years that I would bring my Falcon built from his kit down to Texas. It doesn not fit well in the Mustang.Anyway here it is. Built about eight years ago. Les than 50 flights on it. Evalution/36 in it now replacing the ST/46 that was in it. Maybe this will make Tom smile.

Tom continues to improve and it's confirmed he is in room 571 at 972-981-8000. His cell phone is with him, probably the best way to contact him....469-450-7093. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a computer handy, so he doesn't have this forum available to him. He enjoys chatting, after all, he is Tom! :)

Just to let everyone know, I went by and visited with Tom today. He is tired, but Linda(wife) said he is a whole lot better than yesterday. He said tell everyone he really appreciates the calls. I do know they had he up and walking 2 times yesterday and 3 or 4 today. He looked really good. Sparky, he said thanks for the calls, Bob H., he loves the conversation, said he just got off the phone with you. I told him I would try to come back on Friday. And again,
he loves the calls.
Thanks,
-
I called him today and asked if the plumbing was in order he laughed and said yes. Seemed in good spirits.

I talked with Tom just now and , as mentioned, he is doing pretty good. Thanks all for the calls, has some ideas for an article to write. Good news is he is out of the hospital and into rehab...seven days of that, I think. He can be easily contacted on his cell phone, that's the only way to get in touch.
thanks to all,
