I received a call from Tom's wife Carolyn this morning.
Tom is in St. Vincient's hospital in Birmingham, AL
He has fallen twice recently and has had two mini-strokes that has impaired some of his movements. This is all
I know at the present but I will update with any new information. I know most all of you on SH know Tom and I ask all
of you to join me praying for his recovery.
Thank you,
John Simpson

Not surprised. Jim Howell and I were over visiting Tom a month or so ago, and he told us about his heart condition..fingers crossed.. D>K

I have talked with Tom frequently over the years and spent some time as a guest in his home learning to build better. Tom and his wife are wonderful people. I talked to Tom just recently and he told me about falling in the shop. Please lift Tom up in prayer, he has been through a lot lately. He called me right after my heart attack and we had a good talk about how these health issues will change your priorities in life. The world needs more people like Tom Morris.

Carolyn said yesterday that doctor had resumed the blood thinner and was
keeping him at the hospital a few more days for observation.

Very glad to hear he is improving! Last year (or was it two??) He made a trip to my cousin Hoyt "Hawk" Hawkins home and rescued a few of Hawk's control line planes and a few boxes of related stuff. Tom made the most incredible case for one of Hawk's Warhawks and shipped it to me Greyhound! The box alone drew quite the crowd wondering what artifact must have been inside! (It was shaped very similar to a cross!) I received the Warhawk in perfect condition and sent the box back to him for the original Warhawk (now seriously sun warped and unflyable) but right at that point, Greyhound has permanently ended their shipping of large crated items. So I have not been wanting to put more on Tom's agenda as I knew from conversations with him he was really slowing down and was suffering from vertigo and had taken a couple months to recover. But any of you guys who know Tom well, live close by and would be willing and able to get the Warhawk gently cut apart, boxed well and sent to me I would be eternally grateful! At the very least the engine removed and sent to me. I don't want to turn this into a highjacked thread, so if anyone can give this some thought and contact me directly, again! I will be extremely grateful. Not only for myself, but to take this task from Tom so he will not have to give it a second thought

HI Phil As you know I live near Tom and visit him regularly.. I'll get with him once he is back on his feet, and see what we can do. I see the War Hawk you are talking about each time I visit. H^^

Tom is great! Talk about a guy that did a lot for CLPA. Wish we had 10 of him. I hope he hangs in there and recovers.
-
Can someone please post an email or mailing address for Tom?
I’d like to drop him a note. Thank you.

Tom is one of the people most responsible for PAMPA's success, utterly tireless and always upbeat. It is absolutely astonishing how much abuse he took at a few points in his tenure as newsletter editor, but he never lost focus or let it get the better of him.
One of the finest human beings I have ever met.

You took the words right out of my mouth, De. I have the feeling anyone who spent 10 minutes with Tom would trust him with their life. That kind of integrity is priceless - and all too rare.

Tom is at home. Carolyn said that he is very weak and must use a walker.
He starts therapy next week.

John, can you provide an address for cards, please?
Thank you.

I’d like his address too.
Praying for you my friend.

Any update on how Tom is doing?

Talked to Tom this afternoon. He is so much better. His speech is strong and normal and he was out planting
stuff in his garden. He is using a walker outside but does good without it inside the house. Going to PT twice
a week. Said he was suffering from FGS (female guidance syndrome). Same old Tom.

If they have found a cure, I would be very interested in the therapy! LL~

Ken,
I don't think you could afford the therapy. (It's called divorce)

Just got off the phone with Tom and he sounded pretty good. He told be he has gotten off the walker and now can use a cane. He filled me in on what he has been through and I can assure you it has been rough on him. He is still working in his gardens and told be he has 1000 plants to be planted. That is an ambitious goal considering what he has been through.
Please continue to keep Tom and Carolyn in your prayers.

I haven't been on this forum in quite a few years due to not flying for the same amount of time. Had a couple set backs and then moved so wasn't able to get back in the air. I've recently started to get the itch again and have often thought of Tom Morris and wondered how he's been doing. Most of you won't recall but I'm the guy that had probably the only Tom Morris handle fail(line crimp let go) and Tom being the man he is built me a brand new SV-11 to replace the one I lost. I was never able to finish out the plane and it still is sitting in the beautiful crate he built for it, I hope to finally finish it up soon.
Are there any updates on Tom? I've never forgotten him and what he did for me so I'm praying that he is recovering and doing great! Please let him know the guy who he built a brand new SV-11 for still thinks about him and is praying for his recovery.
Sincerely,
John Prator

I talked with Tom just a couple of days ago and he is not doing well. He has fallen several times and was coughing badly so I got off the phone so he would not try to talk anymore. We need to pray for him. He is one of the finest men I have ever known and it really pains me to see him this sick. Pray for Tom, Carolyn and his family.

Without bothering Tom personally I hope he takes better care of his self also that the doctors are doing what is best. He is a true gentleman and treated me like he had known me all his life every time I would see him. Get well Tom we need you. D>K H^^

I had the same impression. I spoke with him once back in 2017 to order a control set for my "comeback" plane. He talked to me as if we had been BFF's since high school. Every piece of control hardware I own now came from him because of the way he treated a person he had never met. I pray for his recovery.
