Title: Tom Morris
Post by: RC Storick on November 06, 2016, 01:45:01 PM
I just talked to Randy Smith and he informed me Tom Morris had a Heart attack. He is going to recover but some orders may be a little late.

Tom and John Simpson stayed in our condo while attending the MCRC Stunt N Fun contest.
Tom was flying in the second round when he motioned that John should come and get the handle.....he knew that he was having a heart attack.
Prompt ambulance service and good ER work saved his life....his heart stopped for eight minutes and he had 100% blockage. The MD's were very optimistic last  night the he would survive, saying that if this had happened while he was asleep, he wouldn't have wakened.
John and I saw him again this morning and he looked a LOT better.

Tom's wife and son drove down.

Eric and I saw them around 3:00 today and he was still in the ICU, but I spoke with the surgeon and he said that they were going to take Tom to a regular room around 5:00 today. Tom hopes to be released mid-week, but the MD's aren't wild about him riding in a car the 500 miles home.

I'll see him in the morning and report.

Tom.
Sorry to hear about your "Ticker" problems.   Hang in there!  The CL Stunt community loves you and depends on you and your marvelous craftsmanship.

Glad to hear the Doc's say you're going to be OK.  Don't rush it, and do what they tell you.

We can live without you...BUT only for a LITTLE while!  Be good and get well!

I just spoke with Tom.
They have moved him to a cardiac recovery floor (lots of folk in their fourth quarter here in FL) and got a good nights sleep.....
He says that he gets sick when he eats.....hospitals are wonderful weight loss machines....
He is trying to nap as often as he can....
He seemed in reasonable spirits.....
I will visit tomorrow.

Have fun!

Thoughts and prayers coming your way Tom, we really do love you.  My son Dominick was 2 or 3 years old when we first met you at Huntersville, and pretty cautious around people at that time - but he absolutely adored you.

He and I were on the road a couple of months ago and spotted a billboard we got a kick out of - "Real men love babies".  So you're obviously the real thing - and a first class guy!

What Ty said.....

I saw him today.....still bothered with nausea......and pain.
The plan is to let him leave Thursday.....the MD's want him to fly home, the family wants a 2 or 3 day car trip.....he'll be wearing a defibrillator vest for 5 months (or weeks, no one there was taking notes)....
I know how awful it is to be forced to sleep on your back (when you usually sleep on your side) because of all manner of crap strapped on......a good night's sleep would change his mood a bunch....
He will no doubt cut way, way down on his modeling activities....

I'll see him again Thursday morning....

As much as you think the event owes to Tom Morris, it's really 10 times that. I am almost certain that without Tom, PAMPA in particular would very likely not exist. You *cannot conceive* how much crap he had to put up with over the years.

Brett really hit the nail on the head.  Beyond what he has done for PAMPA, Tom has gone way out of his way to help all of us with his books and his products.  Just for NVCL he kitted both the EVO 40 and the P-51B for our winter building programs!  He has always done way more than enough for us.  I just can't imagine being able to do the things we have done without his help.  I am praying for his quick recovery and getting back to full health.  When it comes to control line stunt, he really is the "indispensable  man".

Edy and I visited him today....
He reported that he ate more at lunch than he had the whole time prior....
I'm afraid that he's going to spend more time in the people repair place....another issue cropped up and they are trying to medicate to correct it instead of surgery...
He's in pretty good spirits, and we left him walking that halls pushing the gizmo with the IV around with him......
I know that he is stir crazy

I may see him again tomorrow....more likely Sunday

I just spoke with Tom...
He sounded pretty good
His son drove back to Atlanta
His wife will sleep in the chair in the room
They are going to perform a procedure Tuesday....recovery for that another three or four days
Then the MD's are insisting that he fly to Alabama....
I'll see him Sunday after flying....

This fourth quarter stuff is HARD!

I posted on another thread....
I put Tom and Caroline on a plane from Tamps to Birmingham last evening @ 6:05.
Caroline reported that they made it home just fine, and that Tom is significantly happier than when he was in the hospital, but that he is incredibly TIRED.....
The MD admonished that he take it REAL easy for at least a week....

Have fun!
