Dave,
The Shoestring is about the same wing area as the Ringmaster. The best Ringmasters for PA pattern come in around 25oz ish dry. At 30oz I think it will do the pattern but you will need to watch the vertical 8's as you will need to go back over top to have enough air for the bottom. Alot depends on the power plant and prop. You want lots of blade area to pull it though and keep the speed up. Don't fly it to slow since it doesn't have flaps you need to motor along at around a 4.7 sec lap time (on 60' C to C) or less.

You didn't say what engine, but I would say these fly best with a 2-2+-2 run style regardless of engine you use. Also, watch the CG, like the Ringmaster it should be around 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" back from the leading edge. Don't put too much elevator deflection in 20 - 25 degrees up/down is about the max, more will stall it.

Let us know how she flies.

Best,     DennisT

Thanks.  It has an LA .25 on it.  Goldberg original kit wood; meaning heavy and not so great.

I think , in the day , these were ' STUNT ' like trick motorcycle riding , ' stunts ' . And were built to take a few knocks . Dogfight , Racing , ' Aerobatics ' .

I built a kit one & had a 25 FSR in it , should get it ' staying out ' on 60 foot lines - which gives a bit of room . To keep up the airspeed . So it dost go loose .

so 20 to 30 ounces . Needs a ' COMBAT '  .35 at the Later ! . Which'd work good for Combat . HERE ( and THERE ) there was a ' BENDIX ' race class . .36 max & 60 foot lines .
Of course some people had to use Nelsons & be the fastest , so a NEW SPORT CLASS WENT TO THE DOGS , AS USUAL . whereas if it were say STOCK Fox , OS Enya or whatever ?

These wetre writ round the dimensions of that , Wasnt a clause to incude the Buster . The Cosmic wind matches . But were getting away from things a bit .  WEIGHT .

Depends , dosnt it . 1 Jan 2003 Australian Bendix Team Race at 2003 Nats Albury NSW 160 lap final  6m 54.31s
