In the pictures of the Lee Lorio meet was that Tom Dixon's P-51? Can anyone tell me more about it? It really looks neat!

Scott it is a Pat Johnson design with a Double Star 54, it is a good airplane. Call Tom he will be happy to tell you more.
-
Ok, we need some more photos of that model. y1 ;D

Wayne,
I'll see if I can find some more. Unfortunately, a number of the ones I took in flight are not in good focus. There is one other photo in the Baton Rouge Contest thread (http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=33027.0).

Thanks Steve. Looks like Tom's is a very nicely done model, great to see one of them got built.
Tom's version is extra cool with it's Tuskegee scheme that duplicates the CAF's "Redtail" C model Mustang. That airplane is based just 100 miles north of here in St. Paul, MN... ;D

Wayne,
Here are a couple of photos of Tom's P-51 in the pit area...

Where is the pushrod for the elevator?

Cool! Pushrodless stunt flying!!

Can someone tell me what plan this is of Pat Johnston's? I assume the designer is the Pat Johnston from Idaho that has several CAD plans available. I did not see a P-51B/C version on his available list. Only the "D" model. Wingspan, wing area?????? Is there a plan number? Who sells them?
Thanks,
Shawn

It is modified from Pat's D plan. I did a 500 sq in wing area profile P-51 plan that showed every version of the 51 that escorted the B-17s in Europe, The C with or without the dorsal fin, Malcomb hood or standard, the D with or without the Dorsal etc. I think you can get a copy from Jim Snelson at Control Line Central. He has the masters of 12 of my warbird profiles. The Dauntless and the T-6 shown in the other Lee Lorio contest thread are two of them.

Victor,
Tom ran the pushrod through the fuselage.

Don,
I looked on the CLC wesite and found your plans. Is Jim Snelson still in business? He he delivering any product? The phone number list is disconnected. I am leery of placing an order. Can you supply plans?
Thanks,
Shawn

Sorry I am late getting back to you, this was race weekend here and I had house guests. I don't have the orig. drawings anymore nor any copies. I can put you in touch with someone who has a copy and has made copies for others in the past. Try calling Steve Kocher, he is listed in the PAMPA 2012/13 directory.

Don,
Thanks for the info.

Why not just order the plans from Pat Johnston?
-
I have been emailing back and forth with Pat Johnston. What a nice guy! The plan for this airplane is #158 and it was designed/drawn at the request of Tom Dixon. Pat did the plans back in December 2011. Span is 52.5" and wing area is 554 in^. Designed for a .35 to .46 engine with a weight of 42 to 48 oz. He emailed me a small PDF of the plan and it looks fantastic as do all his drawing. I am going to order a set of plans and set of laser cut ribs as well.
