Indeed
42 years ago today the Ohio National Guardsmen opened fire for 13 seconds, killing 4 at Kent State in Ohio.....
I am very conflicted.....I got the news in the Stars and Stripes while in Camp Eagle, RVN
My sister and her scumbag boyfriend were there (she says protesting, but I wager looking for dope)
A good friend's father was commander of the company that fired.....he felt awful, I'm sure until he died.
One of the Guardsmen that fired because a customer, with lots of guilt, until he ate he gun in early 80's
The 6 degree deal

For military history buffs, tonight is the 75th anniversary of the Japanese invasion of Corregidor. General Wainwright, left in command after the PT boat departure of MacArthur in March, surrendered the fortress on May 6th. I have spoken with a number of Corregidor and Bataan veterans over the years. Life as a Japanese POW was not a pretty picture. Out of approximately 25,600 Americans taken prisoner by the Japanese, 10,650 did not survive the war, or 41.6%. By comparison, about 1% of Americans taken prisoner by the Germans perished.

May 6, 2017 is today's date. Finished the last of the fence details, mowed the lawn, and pulled the last of the boxwoods for the next door neighbor. Dug an old electric (110v., thanks) lawnmower out of the garage for the neighbors to try out, pulled the blade off, sharpened same, reinstalled, put the yard waste bins out for Tuesday. Had one beer, and made myself dinner from some leftovers.  '' Steve

Today's date is May 7, 2017. I watched the Monster Energy Cup race at Talladega, and currently watching the NHRA race in Atlanta. Had to feed myself all day, and might again tonight. Had a beer during the Cup race. Dunno about dinner... mw~ ...I might have to make my own again, or may go out by myself. Got a pile of old lumber and crap to take to the dump (transfer station) tomorrow. Fishing is planned for Tuesday or Wednesday, depending only on the weatherman.   #^  Steve
