Time limit Beginner PA
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:51:28 AM »
I  know the time limit for CLPA skill classes Int., Adv., Exp., is 8 minutes.  I can't find the time limit for beginner.  Is it the same?

There is nothing in the skill classes that specifies a time limit other than the time limit defined in the Maneuver section of the CL Precision Aerobatics event.  This applies to the Beginner event as well as Intermediate, Advanced and Expert.

At the Nats we use a six minute time limit, also at Brodak and at the Western Kentucky/Southern Illinois Stunt Champs.  We advertise this in advance as this is a change we make to make the day run smoother.  Normally a PAMPA event pilot has from 5:45 minutes to fly the pattern, thus having 2:15 minutes to complete the flight.  A Beginner pattern takes 3:45 minutes and we had the same 2:15 minutes to the flight for six minutes.  Thus you learn how to manage your fuel even in Beginner as you prepare for the Intermediate event.

Hope this helps.

Cruel!!

Every time I stepped up to do the beginner's pattern last year I was thankful that I had an inordinate amount of time to finish, and that I could put off learning fuel management until I wasn't crashing planes all the time.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

We still use 8 minutes in Beginner, simply because there aren't usually that many entries.   H^^ Steve

Hey!  I haven't crashed it irreparably yet!

In fact, I've never had a plane that I crashed irreparably more than once.  So there!

Dooling .29's at 20 paces would be more appropriate. Maybe Howard can work that into a JCT poem?  #^ Steve
