Tight needle screw
« on: September 15, 2017, 03:07:16 AM »
Anyone know why needle has gone tight in rear assembly of 40 LA ,was working fine last weekend now it's tight as needing pliers to remove it.I tried one off another engine and it screws in as normal, but for some reason the needle mentioned is tight in every RA that I try it in, anyone had this problem ?
Thanks cory

Hi Cory,
The 'O' ring on the needle has likely not seen much use and is dry so it grabs on the ID of the spraybar. Older well used o rings suffer from a bit of compression set so  the needles become much easier to turn. My new OS LA 25 suffered what you describe. I removed the needle and smeared a teensey bit of silicone grease on the od of the 'O' ring. Don't get any on the metering part of the needle though. It really just needs a eensy teensy bit of lube.
