Tiger Shark Engines ?
« on: April 30, 2009, 12:38:22 PM »
Greetings guys from a showery S.W.France.

Does anyone know anything about Tiger Shark engines please ? I've seen a few on E-Bay and they do have the 'look' of Magnum/ ASP / Super Custom brands .

Maybe they all came out of the same [ Chinese ! ] melting pot but marked with different brands for the various international markets ?

I'm sure someone will know .....

Much obliged ,

Robin [ ex-pat Brit in the Charente full of ex-pat Brits ]

Hi Robin,

I have a TS 39 and I think they are not as well made as the Magnum and TT.

I got it as a gift and have never used.

Cheers,

Martin

Robin.
Do not waste your time with that engine like I did a few years ago.
I machined the fins down on the head to lighten the engine up some. I also made a venture for it. The timing is close to the OS FP 40. The connecting rod had too much clearance on the crankshaft journal. The connecting rod will not interchange with any other types that I have. So the engine sits in the drawer with the other engines that I will not run.

I've given my son a Tiger Shark 46 R/C that runs like a champ in his low winger. Seems to run just like an OS, but not as strong as an SF which is very torquey. Hauling that 4 1/2 pound ARF around no problem.
As far as Stunt goes; TT and Magnums run like an OS FP, 2 stroking with 4 pitch props. Many try to run 6 inch pitch on these and bog them down, it's a waste of time to try. The TSI's should be the same.
