Title: Thundergazer Teaser Trailer
Post by: Matt Colan on January 04, 2013, 10:56:11 PM
*said in dramatic narration like how you see in movie trailers*

Once there was a boy...who didn't believe his parents you could see Thunder.  Despite many people condemning his efforts, he saught to create a device through which he could gaze at Thunder.  Today we call it...

THUNDERGAZER

Coming soon to a flying field near you. Summer 2013

Clear is going on the plane today and tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get most of it assembled on Monday to at least take some pictures of it before I leave to go back to college on Tuesday.

When I got all the trim on, I weighed it and ready to fly was 62 ounces!! I think we can get it to come in at 64 or under completed!

Matt,

That's fine.

So far your model looks astonishing! Kudos!

Can't wait to see the feature film!

Great job, clever trailer!

I'm going to come close, but no cigar.  In the past two days, we've put on four coats of clear, and it needs about two or three more. On Monday, I'm going to put the airplane together to take some pictures. I'll post pictures Monday of the almost finished product.

Don't rush it, Matt. You'll regret it.

They're sprayed on.

Do you have pics of that process?

Not enough to show how it was done.  The letters was a two stage mask that Derek Barry made up for me.  The first step was to lay out the mask that gave me the black letters.  When it was layed out, we marked off all four corners so we could lay out the 2nd stage next. Once the black was on, we pulled off the mask, and layed on the 2nd stage.  Sprayed on the gold, pulled it off and that was the end result.

I do have to thank Derek for providing such good quality masks, they are great to work with and makes something like this lettering doable.

Edit: Pictures of it completed will come tomorrow evening!!
