Thunder Tigre .36

I bought 2 Thunder Tigre .36 from Ken Scott at Graceland hobbies in Selma Al. Years ago Ken sent these engines off to be modified for stunt. He doesn't remember where or who. They have not been run. They both have a "10" stamped on the bottom of mounting lug and they have a venturi machined from a black plastic looking material. The needles are of the super tigre style and the needle threads into the locknut as well as the valve body. Anybody have any idea who might have done these?             Nick

They sound like engines that were re-worked by the late Byron Barker. The one I have of his also has a black plastic venturi. If so, you have 2 excellent engines that will run a high speed 4/2/4 break. The "10" on the mounting lug is probably a factory marking.

Randy Smith also modified these with Black Delrin venturies and (usually) red "o" rings and ST NVA's. Later they probably got his own NVA's. They will be hand engraved on the bottom of the crankcase "Randy" with a number. He serially numbered all of his engines. And yes, the numbers on the lugs are factory stamps.

Look for a machined cut around the head and the letters BB for Byron Barker.  He usually signed them this way.  He used the black material for the venturi sysytem.

There are no machine cuts in the head or a "BB" and there is no red "O" ring that I can see. Thanks for the help. One is in a Nobler and the other is going in a Smoothie. I'll let you know how they work out. Thanks again.    Nick
