And I did take it outside.

To great a day in sunny Florida to work on The Old Gal in my garage. Do that all the time.

Soooooooooo, I decided to put stuff together and take the build outside! A field trip.  #^

A quickie dope kit and tools plus a great outdoor setting. Dope n silk for The Old Gal!

This park area is right behind the old folks home where I'm allowed to stay.  n~

Got the entire fuselage silked in only a few hours, in spite of the hungry ducks, I think they are ducks? They get friendly because people feed them. Didn't know what to make of my model.

Also got a passerby to take my photo.

              Certainly a Muscovy duck. They can be nasty . I guess I would be nasty as well if I was that ugly.  I never heard them quack like a duck they pretty much hiss and they certainly have a bad attitude when they want it their way. I had two for pets . I would feed the rabbit and the duck would pick up all the pellets that fell on the ground. I took a liking to mine as the one would follow me wherever I went. If I went fishing, so did the duck and that was a problem as he would chase after my hook all the time. I would go trout fishing with corn in a plastic bag. The duck knew which pocket it was in.

As for the old Ring. While I'm pretty sure your aware of the Ambroid it appears from your pictures to be built with. I would think at this point it's extremely brittle. I've had good success with chipping the old stuff away and re glue the joints with newer Sig -Ment or Ambroid. I certainly would have concerns that the bellcrank platform is intact and also not a victim of this old glue. While I wouldn't use Ambroid to glue plywood, many did. In addition, the old Sterling ply used poplar laminations which are also prone to delaminating. Ken

Ken,

Ambroid. Every glurd joint has been CA'd. As far as the bellcrank, that has been replaced, including adding an upper and lower mount over an elongated bolt. You know the drill. Pushrod and ball ends from Tom Morris.

I have a build thread, kinda, on this model. Purchased it for 20 bucks.

It has undergone quite a few changes. From a Super Ringmaster to a P-40 Warhawk.

Gotta decide on covering really soon. Silk or silkspan? Silkspan is easier.  S?P

I could cover the wings tomorrow or early in the week.

I thimk I done gone ruined a good Ringmaster.
