Three Day Paintjob
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:08:38 PM »
I decided to refinish my old Argus and repower it.

I'll try and get it set up for Brodaks.

Yep, Ken - that originally was originally powered by a SAITO 30.

It now has a Fox 35.

Hi, Shug.

That's an old Fox muffler. I think it came out way before the newer streamlined versions.
Maybe someone here can help.

Bob,

Couple of questions, What did you use to get such beautiful fillets at the wing and stab? Is it covered with silk or Polyspan and have many coats of clear do you have on it? Is the paint scheme design work layout painted stencils? Spray job or brushed? I could keep going but that's enough. Beautiful job! Just ordered a Ruffy rib set from RSM and admire beautiful work.

Hello all and thank you for the kind compliments.

Steve - I'll answer you questions as best I can:

What did you use to get such beautiful fillets at the wing and stab? Just talcum powder and dope, applied by fingertip.

Is it covered with silk or Polyspan? Silkspan

How many coats of clear do you have on it? Five

Is the paint scheme design work layout painted stencils? The painted sections are simply defined by masking tape then airbrushed. The script, stars and Argus are decals I made

Spray job or brushed? Three brushed coats of clear then fillercoat, color and clearcoat sprayed

Again, thanks for your interest.

The photo is of the mythological "ARGUS"
Argus from Classical Mythology: "A giant monster with a hundred eyes, used by Hera to watch over Io. He was killed by Hermes, and Hera then used his eyes to decorate the peacock's tail."
