Title: This was not my first plane, but was my first kit.
Post by: Paul Taylor on December 26, 2007, 03:38:25 PM
My first plane was a RTF Cox Chrome P-51. I flew it at the Millington Navy Base circle until the Chrome came off and exposed the red plastic. After a few hard crashes the tank got a crack in it.

This was my first kit. Bought at a LHS in Va. Beach Va.
Flew it in the back yard with my friend.

Hi Paul,
Wow, did you just kick my memory banks into gear!!  I flew as a Navy Memphis Tailhook at Millington in 1959.  The hobby shop and circle on the base was a very active place then.  We flew a lot of combat, stunt, and even some carrier back then as a club, I can't recall just how many members we had, but it was a lot.
I was strictly combat then, but did by my Sterling Ruffy kit there, complete with leaded and shredded balsa.  (Die crushed, you say?)
Blessings,
Will

Gee, my first was a WenMac silver P-39. Flew it in the vacant lot next to my house in Lost Angeles. I got it for Christmas when I was about 9.   :##
