Cobra Short Kit ***Canopies are in***
« on: December 04, 2006, 07:24:55 PM »
I have recently been asked about the Cobra Short Kit which was the subject of a couple threads of the recent past.  Fifteen of these short kits were put together by Brodak.  The only piece not available was and still is the canopy.  As of last Friday, 1 Dec 06, the canopy is still not available for the kit.  The build of these kits was coordinated with Jan in Brodak manufacturing.  Unfortunately, Jan is out with pneumonia and unavailable to shed further light on when the canopies would become available.

I am not posting this as a complaint.  I am posting this because I coordinated the kit with Brodak and feel it necessary to keep those interested informed.  If you would like further information on the availability of the Cobra Short Kit by Brodak, you can call their Order Line.  The sales staff is familiar with the kit and will finalize sales as soon as manufacturing receives the canopies.

If you would like the kit minus the canopy, I'm sure that can be arranged.

Regards To All

Happy Holidays     Thomas

It happens to everyone. About a month after I received my Cobra kit from Walter, I got another package. Inside was the canopy.  <=

A while later, I got a letter from Ty Marcucci. Inside this letter was my Cobra decal.  n~

It's all worth the wait.

Sorry to hear about Jan. Hope she gets well soon.

Ty,

I do not know anything about additional canopies.  But, that could explain how 2 of the short kits were completed and shipped.   I suppose it's possible that  the remaining canopies were lost or damaged.

Several of those initially interested in the kit have become disinterested, others grow impatient and are about to move on to other projects.  I hope canopies, new or old, are found soon.

Happy Holidays,
  Thomas

Thomas,

I spoke with John today and he said they should have been in some time ago and he would look into it.  We still have everything that Walter sent including all his parts patterns etc. l'll look for the canopies tomorrow.  Rumor has it that Jan will be at the annual Christmas party that the folks at the shop are having this Friday if she is feeling OK.  Last I heard she was still quite weak but improving.

I'll do my best to try and get the canopies.

Sam

Sam,

Thanks for looking int this.  I should have thought to ask you about it much earlier.  I'm glad Jan is doing well.  Ive never met her but have talked on the phone several times and she seems to be a great person.

Thanks again and please give my regards and Holiday wishes to all at Brodak's

I just checked out the boxes we got from Walter and there are no canopies.  Hopefully John will come by this afternoon.  He said he was getting them from Dave Midgely.

Spoke with John and he said Midgely told him the canopies were mailed today.  I'll keep an eye out for them and let you know when they come in.  We spoke with Jan today and her doctor will not let her out of the house yet.  No telling when she will be able to come back to work.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Sam

I sent the canopies I had along with the two plugs. These were sent seperate from the original shipment and not at the same time.

John received them sometime around the time of his last contest so they may be in his shop or house.
Thank you and God Bless

Well it's Jan. 5 and still no Cobra kit ????? I email several weeks ago stating I still wanted it and that they had my cedit card info. I received a reply that the canopys were in. Doesn't sound like they want to sell them.

I just spoke with Patty and she does not have the orders.  I think the fact that Jan is still out sick may have caused a missed communication.  Please call Patty direct or email her.

That sounds GREAT!  The Cobra is a great I-Beam design.  Do *try* and keep the weight down.

As to the LG, I forget.......... do oyu have a vise and K&S bender???  If not, GET ONE!

Lee,

I'm glad you finally got your Cobra.  Is it all that you hoped it would be?  I'm waiting to clear a few Xmas bills and I will get mine, if there are any left.

I can't remember if the plans we sent with the short kit had a LG pattern or not.  I can get John Parker in John's factory to bend the gear if necessary.  Just let me know.

Parker does the landing gear for all Brodak kits.  I'll look into it next week and get back to you.  I assume the LG would cost the same as similar ones that Brodak sells.

I went over the pattern with Parker today.  It's pretty simple and we can do them.  I don't have a price yet but it will be exactly the same as we charge for other similar gear.  Is there any way I can get an idea of how many we need to make?
