And it is posted in the paint section. The question is for sign painters. Best guess as what to use for sizing for gold leaf under dope?

Robert,
PVA glue such as Titebond II can be used after thinning with water to a milky consistency.  The proper dryness of the sizing is when you touch the sizing with your knuckle and pull it away there is a slight popping sound.  It should feel about like masking tape.  Get it on smooth as any runs or buggers will show up through the leaf.

"Sizing" is apparently the attachment or gluing down of the leaf material? Where does that term come from?
Narrowly averting disaster since 1964!

Sparky,

Windy's Strega had a lot of gold leaf lettering on it, if you can find someone who has a copy of the tapes from that build.  Guessing it was around '95 or so.  Hope you back heals, been there done that.

Bob Whitely has successfully done gold leaf on at least one airplane I remember.  Why not PM him and ask the question.
He usually looks in on the forum maybe He'll say something!

I'm sorry, I misunderstood the question. I bought the leaf and sizing as a kit, so, I really don't know. it is a think white gun in appearance.
