So, here I am in the mountains in Idaho, sitting by the pool at the condo and contemplating a white water trip on the Salmon River tomorrow or Thursday and what do I find? They have wireless internet access here!. Wow! So I signed up for a couple of days just to keep track of you guys.   8)

Wi-Fi *is* pretty cool.  At least I thought so when I installed it in our house a few years ago.  I called my wife over to look at the signal strength meter on my laptop - then went to every corner of the house and said, "Can you hear me now?  Can you hear me now?"

She wasn't then or even today, remotely impressed...  ::)

But it's fun, though. This the first time that I've been able to use this laptop to actually get on the internet away from home. Seems there's alway some problem, but not this time.

Randy,

Idaho has some mighty good fly fishing water.

Don't know if you like that sort of thing but if so, hoppers, ants, crickets and beatles (terrestrials) can bring explosive strikes this time of the year!

If you need a guide, let me know.  I'll tell my wife I have  make an "emergency" trip to assist a friend.  Nah, she wont swallow that.  I'll think of something. . .

Regards,

HI Randy!  I used to live up there in heaven.  Pocatello actually, but the entire state is beautiful.  Any chance of dropping into Boise and seeing Pat Johnston??  Then you could fly too. What a vacation.  Do not talk to any women up there and mention my name, lies all lies. ;D

I spent some time at Mountain home AFB in the 60's and desert didn't appeal to me. That said it was interesting to see the lights of Boise 70 miles away on a clear night. But your right most of the state is beautiful and Pocatello was really a great place to go to.
Hopefully when I retire I can make a leisurely swing through the west again.

McCall is about 2 and a half hours north of Boise up on the edge of the Frank Church wilderness area. Nice weather. We've come up here to the in-laws condo every year for the last 20 years or so. There's a fire over on Lick Creek, so the annual trip to Warm Lake is out. Sigh... We'll head over to Burgdorf later today. Carol King lives up there and sponsors a concert this time of year, but you have to go up there to get the schedule.

We'll head down on Saturday to Boise and I'll stop in to see Patrick. I lived in Boise for ten or twelve years. That's how I met Pat.

Tomorrow we're taking a half day raft trip out of Riggins on the main fork of Salmon. The middle fork is closed for rafting after a log jam blowout.

It ain't flying, but it is fun.

Ok, Here you go. How I spent my summer vacation. Salmon river between Riggins and Lucile. We had fun.

Ty,

I'd forgot that Eddie lives here. I haven't seen Eddie since he was a kid. I knew his dad, Al Culver, the Sage of Parma. Pat Johnston and I made regular trips out to see Al and his house packed with model planes. Good memories.

Ty,

I haven't seen Al since I moved from Idaho in 1989. Amazing guy. I plan to try to look up Ed today. We were all day on the River yesterday.

Paul,

The guy in the middle, Jared, was our river guide and did all the paddling.   x:

I'm in the back with my beautiful wife and sister-in-law. In the front are my son and his significant other. Nothing like letting the guide do the paddling. You just have to hang on. Epley's Adventures people took the pictures from a bridge. Pretty cool.

edit for typo
