When I tried "Ad Blockers" they prevented me from opening files that I wanted to open. I deleted each for being more trouble than they were worth. Waiting for ads and unwanted crap to load really slows down computing progress. You'd think there would be a good one out there, somewhere!  '' Steve

For the present, my general email comes through Yahoo and I've been with them for since 1998 or so.  However I had to start using Ad Blocker Plus for a little over two years now.  I was pleased until Yahoo found a way to put their ads in little irritating side windows.  Then I found that through Ad Blocker Plus, I was able to delete or block the little side windows.  Recently, Yahoo has revised their email again.  This time I've been getting a little pop-up that tells me "Looks like your ad blocker it on.  Please consider supporting us with one of the options below."  Then two little boxes to choose from; a "Go Ad Free" box that will cost me around $3.49 per month plus taxes which can be nearly $50 per year and a "Unblock Ads" box that I obviously don't want.  Finally there is a third option that says "Dismiss and take me to Basic mail" which eliminates the text enhancements like bold, italics and so forth.

Bottom line, I don't want to be flooded with ads that I do not want to see or risk getting viruses and they seem to think my offer of $1.00 per month or $12 plus taxes per year to be ad free is unacceptable.  That's just too bad for them because I will still do whatever I have to to block their ads.  Actually, it seems Gmail and Hotmail both want to push the pay/ad issue but the Ad Blocker Plus seems to work better.  Unfortunately, Yahoo has found a way to circumvent with their intrusive little pop-up.  I just may terminate their mail service if this continues and they won't accept my counter offer.  Am I wrong?

The worst thing is that they (Yahoo) finally get their program working correctly after awhile, and immediately start on another new program, and the cycle repeats. It's pretty obviously justification for having software "engineers"  on staff and job insurance...aka "busy work".  I wish they had left it alone for the last 20 years, because back then it worked and it was easier to operate. It's tempting to change to Gmail, but Gmail is Google, and I'm not a fan of Google's policies and don't want to use Chrome. Which they push all the time already, to an annoying extent.  ''  Steve

Does anyone know anything about Reagan Mail?  You have to pay for it but I understand there are no ads at all and supposed to be very secure.  Actually, I would probably pay a reasonable price for a good secure ad free email provider.  COX did away with their proprietary email service and went to a web based service and it sucks.
